Hi all - hoping you can help with a couple of questions on giant rats (from book of peril)........ 1.) are they still considered to be part of the game and available to everyone as a generic pet in addition to the house specific pets? Or have they been superseded by house specific pets and deleted from the game?.........2.) If they are still allowed, what's the general consensus on them? The seem quite useful to me at only 50 creds. Can put them in from if the owner so that opponent needs a cool check to shoot past the rat, if they fail and have to shoot the rat it's at a minus 1 to hit due to small target and the rat has an invulnerable 4+ save. So a fair chance they essentially waste a shoot action. Rat can also attack, whilst they're not great WS4, S3 with 2A in the charge could get lucky with the dice rolls......

I played half an Outcasts campaign using Ratskins as Clanless Outcasts, leader had 1 pet rat, and that rat was a hero. I was playing against two Van Saar gangs and there were frequent comedic scenes where Ratty would advance ahead of Chief Stone Toad and savage the Van Saar cowards' ankles as they desperately blasted away at their own feet with las, plasma, etc. to no avail, while the Chief charged in to Boning Sword them. Great times.

That's exactly the sort of performance I'm thinking of! Although I play van saar, so the rat would be more of a meat shield / extra consideration for enemies coming in to charge range

I can see nothing which suggests giant rats or anything in Book of Peril is superseded, BoP and other such books are all optional, additional rulesets to be used at a groups discretion, that hasnt changed as a result of the House books

The book of Peril is to cool to be superseded! Long live the Brainleaf Zombie!
Unless a official FAQ or new book is published then previous official content is still official like the Trading post FAQ.
I recommend talking to your groups and arbiter if you have one. It is full of great stuff and everyone should have a copy.
