I've finally cracked my starter set and am building my first Goliath gang, need some advice on the starting roster; is 8 gangers too many? Would I be better with fewer (6/7) people with more toys? Anything you guys can add would be helpful

8 is great for Goliath but you always want to start with as many champions as you can take as they are the best fighters you can get.

Look at dropping the juve and a ganger with a stub cannon and see if you can afford a champion.

I personally like champions with renderisers and nerves of steel, but there are a few other decent combos, like champion with grenade launcher or champ with bolter that are also good.

If you are up for a conversion it is worthwhile trading a combat shotgun for a boltgun as well, and dropping the champions chain axe to start with to upgrade one of the stub cannons to a regular shotgun is a good choice as well.

Stub cannons are only really any good against other Goliath where the S5 actually does something, and even then I’d still prefer a shotgun for the versatility.

I've dropped the 2 stub cannon gangers and have added a Renderizer champion now. The big weakness will be range but I'm going to try a few skirmish games with what I have and make adjustments if I get pinned down at long range too much. If necessary I'll switch a combat shotgun for a boltgun
