Hi Guys

Absolute Necromunda novice so please forgive me if the questions are stupid.

I am putting a Goliath gang together.
I have a box of Stimmers & Forge Born plus a box of regular Goliaths, Weapon set 1 and 2.

1. I would like to put a good base gang together for a campaign (1000 points). Any pointers here would be very welcome.

2. How do I build a list using the gang builder to utilize Stimmers, Forge born or Stumcrocs?
I can see how to add the regular gang members just not any of the above.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Alpha, so with the gang manager, you'll need to make custom profiles for everyone at https://yaktribe.games/underhive/custom. This won't just be for the stimmers and forge born, but also the basic forge tyrant, forge boss, bruiser and bully, as the current ones are are for the old Gangs of the Underhive list with juves not matching bullies, and no one having armour in House of Chains. Sumpkrocs are available as hangers on and equipment, however :)

On question 1 there is a lot here, on Reddit, on Facebook - but I'd really emphasise while that starting list matters, what also matters is the campaign type you are playing (which indicates what likely income you'll access, as well as access to what kind of rare markets if at all, etc) and then what matters most are the actual games and dice that ultimately get rolled once the campaign starts. Don't stress too much right now, but play around with different ideas with the players you will play with. Also does your group have house rules about weapons access, rarity rolls, access to and use of tactics cards, etc?

Some nasty things you can do is spam grenade launchers and boltguns, but it also isn't guaranteed to succeed due to 6+ ammo rolls, or hire a bunch of t4 suicide bombers toting smoke grenades and blasting charges that really abuse the threat potential of 5" templates of doom (but may really suffer bad lasting injuries). Nastiness also includes making lots of toughness 5 vatborn Gangers. It might be better not to because any of these strategies see you be that player potentially.

Overall, I do feel like we haven't adjusted yet to the sheer amazing potential of House of Chains - either as a narrative tool or as a gaming toolkit - in part because of the pandemic stopping campaigns dead. Like you can crazy experiment with House of Chains, really pursue quite unique visions of a Goliath gang - or do something more normal. Have fun, dream mad :)

I’d also be very interested to see what others are thinking when building their gangs after the new house of chains book.

the guys at goonhammer seemed to like going for ultra spec’d up champions and gang leaders (great summary of Goliath)

My original theory crafting was going for fitting as many meatheads as I could into the gang in the early stages and then build them up as the campaign progresses. But that’s not been play tested since the start of n17...

Thanks for your great response.

I am halfway through building a list up at the moment following your suggestions.

I don't want to be that guy so I am not going for the Vatborn and will be limiting myself to just one grenade launcher and one missile launcher.
Most other gangers are being issues Combat shotguns or Pulverizers just to be starting with.

The options really do seem endless for the Goliaths.

Thanks again for the help.

You can't go wrong if you're trying out a bunch of different stuff. The risk of becoming "that guy" is when you end up spamming the same stuff. Necromunda for me has always been about variet, not some 40k squad where everyone has the same equipment.
