Greyhart's Projects Thread - Because all the other cool Yaks are doing it.

4th of July and the weekend was a bust hobby-wise as my wife and I had a lot going on. I've been continuing work on my Reaver this week and have made more progress. I also assembled, magnetized and began painting the Warhound weapons found in Legions Imperialis along with priming two Cerastus Lancer Knights. Lastly I began assembly of my Warlord.

All in all a productive week so far. I'm going to try to get the Reaver and Warlord weapons done by this weekend. I have a friend coming over Sunday for pointers on using decals and I need the Reaver finished to demonstrate on.

More progress! I'm burning up my paint brushes!

Finished the Reaver and finished assembling all the.. er.. subassemblies for the Warlord.

Only thing left I want to do today is finish painting the Warhound melta and volkite, which I'll be able to this afternoon.

I may take tomorrow off from hobby work and play an MMORPG on my computer.

.. nah. 😂

So.. yeah. I did NOT take yesterday off to be a couch potato. I actually sat down in peace and quiet (wife was on an overnight with a friend at the casino, Foxwoods if you're interested) and painted these guys, Thing 1 and Thing 2.

The two Cerastus Lancers for my Legion Mortis "loaner" force for Adeptus Titanicus.

Here's a picture of all the knights and titans I've finished in the last year.

In the back you can see the Warlord in subassemblies waiting to be started. But that won't be until almost the 1st of August as we're going on vacation in a week.

I've got a few things to do this week to putter around. Paint the movement widgets and tokens, magnetize the Warlord, and finish a building I started over six months ago. Should be a relaxed week, and I'll hopefully be ready to tackle the big guy after my vacation.

Did you win?

So the last couple of days I've been working on a long put off project for the Star Wars RPG group I'm in. I FINALLY sat down and finished the model of our ship. It's an awful 3D filament print and there was only so much I could do with it. It looks better (in my opinion) than it did, but not as good as I could have done with a better print.

We have a game session this Saturday. Hopefully everyone will like what I've done.

I've gone back to finish some in progress Heavy Gear minis. Here's a picture of Northern Jaguars (in front of the building) fully painted just waiting on final assembly, decals and basing.

The three in front are ( L to R) a Cheetah, White Cat and Kodiak.

I'll finish all of these - and the building - after I get back from vacation in a week.. so probably by the end of the month.

Going up to Vermont for a couple days (Stowe to go to Shelburne museum), then over to northern (WAY northern) New Hampshire to my brother in law's for the annual family get together. Hopefully I'll get my hobby batteries recharged.

Finished the Heavy Gear Northern army and a building, I posted both in the FYSC thread, so I won't repost here.

Primed up the Warlord yesterday (early morning before it got hot and humid) and hit the pieces I wanted with red spray this morning. I've been picking away at the fire arc templates and token the last couple days. Not really seriously painting, just puttering mainly. I'll probably post either tomorrow or Sunday some pics of the Warlord in progress.

My vacation didn't really pick me up as I'd hoped, just the opposite in fact. And the current crappy weather here going back and forth between rain and hot and humid isn't helping me either.

Haven't felt like starting the Warlord, so I started my second Heavy Gear Southern army box. Everything is at least partially assembled and primed (14 gears and 6 drones). Three Jagers and two hunter-killer drones in progress. I should be able to finish them tomorrow.

I guess this is just my year to paint all my Heavy Gear stuff as looking back I haven't really done much else.

Finished painting the previous models, however they still need basing, final assembly, decals and clear coat. I kind of lost momentum on them and so shifted to a different project.

I'm currently finishing painting a set of terrain for Steel Rift (pics tomorrow probably) and in between have been cleaning up, assembling and magnetizing arms for the HE-Vs ( Humanoid Endo-skeletal Vehicle, ie. mech).

Tiny (1/16" x 1/16") magnets.. pain in the rear. Worth it though. The arms have slots that fit weapons bits so the choice of load outs is quite overwhelming. I picked some load outs that seemed good and glued the weapons to the arms. Since you can buy separate arm and weapon bits it's easy to get a variety.

Models are 3D printed. Nice, the nibs for support are on surfaces you don't see and are easy to clean up. Looking forward to painting them up and getting a game in with a friend.

Pics of the completely finished Steel Rifts terrain. 3D (filament) printed, not great, but not terrible. I mean.. it's terrain. LoL

The neat thing about this set is that all the pieces stack together and fit INSIDE the large light gray one for easy storage. It's also enough pieces for a standard game board set up.

Anyway, here's the pictures.

If you care about the layer lines and want them gone quick you can do a MEK dip.
Obviously these are done but a note for the future
And before you ask, methyl ethyl ketone

Cool, can't say I expected to see that as a reply though. You should know well enough how to work around it then, being pretty noxious and all.

It is wicked stuff to work with. I've been exposed to enough chemicals on my life, I'll deal with the print lines. LoL

Started the Warlord today. I was going to start my Steel Rift minis now that I have the terrain done. But after trying out my paint scheme on a set of legs I'm not so sure about it. I set them aside for now, as I did want to finish the Warlord by the end of the month.

.. which is half gone already! 😳

I'll post an in progress pic later today or tomorrow. Nothing much to see right now. "Move along, move along."

<whistles ZZ Top "Legs">

Finished up the Warlord's legs as you can see. The assembly wasn't as bad as the Reaver, but there are a couple things I noted for next time that I need to pay attention to. Painting all that trim work is tedious so I'm going to take a few days break from it and do something else for a bit. I'll probably work on the Southern Gears again to work towards finishing them too.

Making some progress on my second Southern starter box. Same models as before just different weapons loads.

From left to right:

Iguana x2, Cobra x2, King Cobra x2. Behind the Iguanas are more drones (recon and demolition). I'm going to try to get these done by next week, then I'll start on the last 4 (Black Mambas) which I hope to have completed by the end of the month.

I'm not sure when I'll finish the Warlord. After completing the legs yesterday I just can't think about doing anything with it right now. Maybe I'll get it done by the end of the year. :ROFLMAO:
