Guide: House Goliath

While I'm happy to see a choice besides Nerves of Steel for Goliath, if there was any Leader where Overseer didn't appear to be the best choice it would be Goliath (well, and Van Saar).

Aside, whichever way you are on the True Grit + Stimms debate I've just noticed the wording of Bio-booster:
"Bio-booster
The first time in each game that an Injury roll is made for a fighter with a bio-booster, one less Injury dice is rolled. If only one dice should have been rolled, two dice are rolled instead and the player controlling the fighter with the biobooster can discard one of them."
It makes it an interesting choice for a Stimmed-up Goliath Champion with creds to burn.

They focus even more on my champions that have Nerves of steel. You and everybody know their gaming Group best, I think like in 40k you get to know how your buddies think and what their playstyle is.

Yes that Sounds nice but it's rare (11), I can't seem to be able to get rare (7) on 2D6 with my leader. My dice...

@Thorgor By the way I can't find the rule(s) stopping my leader from using Overseer while being pinned. Perhaps the english rules are more clear on this than the german translation? Can you help?

Can you help?
Sure!
OVERSEER (LEADERSHIP)
lf the fighter is Active, they can attempt to make the following action:
Order (Double) - Pick a friendly fiqhter within 12 ". That fighter can immediately make two actions as though it were their turn, even if they are not Ready. lf they are Ready, these actions do not remove their Ready status.
The fighter must be Active (ie Standing and not Engaged) to make the action and it's a Double action (so you can't make it after a Stand up action, unless it was free (but you need Spring up for that)).

Overseer: Discussed more here

I'll be starting a Goliath gang after these 2 orlocks die, so I may have some use from this as well as insights from my experience. So far, Stimm-Slugs and Nerves of Steel looks good.

You just want something that has a chance of surviving multiple actions of Plasma Gun shooting.

Nah a Stimm'd up Goliath is a 5+ to wound on LP (with RF) or 3+ on MP (with Unstable) which makes a Plasma Gun survivable. Add True Grit and an Armoured Undershirt and you stand a fairly good chance of walking away from a low power Plasma Gun shot.

It's better/worse if you bait out the attack with the Champion (by exposing yourself and not using Stimms) and then play Unstoppable Behemoth + Click. Plasma Guns are still the most effective means of taking down a Stimm'd fighter, and this combo takes 1 out of the fight with very little risk.

Actually, I find krak grenades fired via launcher more consistent at killing goliaths on stimms or not. Fast shot helps.

Had to endure a 4 grenade launcher Goliath gang tonight.

I actually managed to take out the leader getting my opponent to bottle, but I was lucky from a good number of grenades failing to hit/wound me. When I lost a ganger from the second shot I almost bottled but the ganger is able to fight next game so I decided I could lose one more which never happened. I am sure it will hurt me much more next week.

I’m still finding the Goliath tactics cards to be rather broken and the new Orlock ones are very toned down by comparison.
