I guess most will be pandemic-dependent, but let's hope this year sees a return to something more normal.
This was a hope, rather than a resolution. The year did return to something more normal, at least in the latter part. We were able to visit our parents in September (for the first time since Christmas 2019) and back to work. Still, the ongoing pandemic continued to disrupt normal life.
1. Covid-allowing, try to play more. In particular, try to get some games in with the gf if I can.
Fail. The local gaming club re-opened (in a limited format - pre-booking required and numbers restricted) and I know a few people were getting into some Stargrave, but between the pandemic and my work schedule I didn't make it. Nor did I manage any gaming with the gf. It's nice when it happens, but I didn't want to add additional stress to her life. I'm pretty sure I've not played a game of anything all year
2. Diversify... it may be time to look at other gaming systems. I fancy something futuristic (sci-fi or post-apoc). At the moment, I'm waiting to find out more about Stargrave (due in April).
I'll call this a win. I bought the rulebook and a bunch of minis. I've painted more than enough for a crew and some pirates. I've also used the kits to make a fully-painted Cawdor gang and a start on two other gangs, should the chance to play Necromunda arise. Granted, I haven't actually played these other games yet - see above - but since playing was resolution #1 I'm not counting that as part of #2 as well.
3. Get my hobby stuff more sorted... I could really do with better storage and (Covid-allowing) selling off some of the things that I don't expect I'll ever use.
Partial win. I didn't manage to tackle the 'man cave' but we did pick up some new-to-us bookcases, one of which is now in the dining room and has taken a lot of hobby clutter off the table. There's a lot more that could be done, but I think it's been an improvement on this time last year.
1. Try to stay (get?) in shape. This doesn't necessarily mean losing weight or anything, but I probably need more exercise and a healthier diet... we did get into walks in local woodland so - at minimum - I want to keep that up for fitness.
Again, I'd probably say a partial win. I still eat too much junk, and probably still need to rein that in (although the fact that we rarely drink at home has meant drinking less). But going back to work most days has forced me to keep walking. It's not as nice as exploring the local woods, but it still keeps me somewhat active. And we've managed to fit some walks in over Christmas too, albeit that the weather hasn't helped (it's been mild for the time of year, but pretty wet, meaning the ground is very muddy in places).
