After some help here and from my local store, I have my first gang list. Please note that I have no idea what the actual meta is- this both means that I may be making a dumb mistake entirely, or that if it's an established strategy I had no idea :p.

https://yaktribe.games/underhive/gang/new_embers.82213/

The basic idea is activation spam combined with aoe weapons- With a Slaanesh favor, cult icon, overseer, and general group activation I could in theory activate the whole gang at once, and then *ideally* lay down enough aoe firepower to severely cripple the enemy first activation. I do realize, as was explained to me, that if this doesnt work I become easily open to attack on the enemies turn (to activate)... So this is kind of an all-in strategy. But I wanted to see if it would work before moving on to trying something else.
Also, it should be noted that *everyone* in the campaign this will be for is playing casually, even the arbiter (I think that's the name?). So I might even prefer it be risky.
Alternatively, if there's a list of strategies you can give me that are more tried and tested then this let me know.

Thanks! -Drake

The alpha strike idea you are going with doesn’t work as well in Necromunda as it does in 40k.

In fact group activations are usually a bad idea unless you have a very specific thing you need to do that turn.

Also you can’t chain group activations together. If the leader includes a champion in his group activation the champion can’t then also activate a group.

It’s also very unlikely that you will even be able to see your opponent on the first turn, let alone be in range to hit him with a grenade launcher and two flamers.

All of that said your gang list is actually pretty decent. Overseer on the leader (who isn’t overly burdened with expensive equipment) and a champion with flamer is a decent combo.

the other champion having a grenade launcher is a good solid choice and will do a lot of heavy lifting in terms of fire support.

Unless your group has house rules it you can’t start with specialist gangers in a campaign. Note that this only means that he is not a specialist (he is not allowed to select level ups), you can still have one ordinary ganger that starts with a special weapon.

What you are really missing is a meat shield for your leader and flamer champion to hide behind, but you can always just stick an autogun ganger in front of them anyway.

That's wierd, since the chaos cultists specifically say one helot cultist *can* have a special weapon, and once the campaign begings new cultists can get them at will.

Otherwise, gotcha, I'll modify the list with those things in mind, thanks!

Ok, I've changed the gang list around. Assuming this line from the Helot Cultist profile is to be interpreted as I think; "When the gang is created, one helot cultist can be armed with a special weapon", here's a summary-

I switched around the flamer on the specialist with the launcher on the disciple. Along with some changes to equipment, this allowed me to make one of the flamer disciples into a tank type character, with mesh armor, unstoppable, and a sword. Hopefully this would sufficiently fill a tank like role (Which I think is a good suggestion to have even if I don't need someone to protect the leader).
I also had the points to upgrade the leader to mesh armor, which is nice :p.
Anything else you can think of?

Ooooh I see now. I didn't actually realize specialist meant something different then just *having* a specialist weapon. My bad, apologies lol. Didn't read all the way through.
Ok, I took of the skill from the specialist hanger but for ease of use atm just leaving it as-is- I'll change it to a normal gamer once I have the time too
