What do Catachan Face Eaters taste like? Are they really a nuisance animal if they were deliberately introduced? Is sumpward algae safe to eat? What about "safe" to eat? But no, the planet produces insignificant food in comparison to its population.

Yep, stale is best, leave them for an hour or so and they become infested with mites, almost doubling their mass and adding a twang to the flavour

True, but they have one the highest protein count when it comes to non fat options. Also lot of fibers. But if that would be you only protein source you would eat ton of mushroom thus mushroom is better as sidedish and supplement to both meat and non meat diets.
