Hive101

Hey folk been a while . Been working on some Van saar dudes recently. Was never a big fan of the new look even saar but they have grown on me particularly with the forgeworld heads

I love them (even if they are noticably different). But if I did not have a little experience putting together Wyrd kits... these minis would me amazingly frustrating.
Now.. magnetizing is another level entirely...

@Unslain yeah they are purely for aesthetic not gameplay really.. as i dont own a rule book :D are meltas particularly OP in Necromunda.
Colour scheme wise i have teal and orange in mind or blue and red i will have to do a test model. cheers

@cardyfreak they are a really difficult kit in fact i would say the most difficult i have worked on , i picked up some magnifying glasses to wear just because i knew how tricky they were going to be , nice to see that this element is appreciated here. the resins were not bad to be honest , not many mold lines but yeah the mixing of superglue and plastic glue was not fun.

@Punktaku yeah i know what you mean i think i was drawn to thme because they are the least explored faction so gave me some imagination space. also as a completionist i would want to build everytype of model which would not be an easy task with the other kits lol

@cainex1 i agree they dont reallly sit with the plastics heads very well, as for frustrating i agree completely .. yeah i tried magnetizing once i dont think its for me .:D cheers

Well a Van Saar champion will hit on a roll of 2+ (modified by cover and/or an aiming action) from the moment they're hired, and the melta will then wound anything but the most boosted goliath on 2+, causing 3 wounds per hit (enough to fell any starting gang fighter). The range isn't much and Van Saar aren't fast movers but I wouldn't give good odds to any fighter wanting to get close.

Or to put it in fluff terms, anyone living in a tower of plasteel domes and toting a gun that evaporates plasteel on contact deserves to be feared and avoided in my book.

Hahaa that is pretty dangerous ! I was thinking that they burrow deep into the planet looking for archeotech and the meltas would come in handy for removing bulk heads and such.seems fitting for abunch of archeotech hunters. thanks for the heads up i appreciate it. i may have to use a different laodout if game with them.

Aye up Folk , been a while.. Not worked on much recently but i am looking forward to all the new cool munda figure releases , i did attempt to make a grimbright style / thor ragnarock style underhive board and a wild dog pack a few months ago , although i am tempted to re paint the board in ww2 colours for the new cadia stands stuff. any how here a re a few picsc edit posted in another thread by mistake , but cant seem to delete it .. mm

I noticed a couple of cool close-up pics in your “oops! Wrong gallery” post that aren’t here.
yeah i put quite a few in the gallery and just linked them but could only link 10 :)

Hey folks , Been quite busy with hobby the past few weeks , ordered a proxy Anphelion base to be printed and painted that up as a astropathic relay station , although i think it would make a nice floating low necromunda atmopshere base with soe adjustments :) not too bad really but its not resin so the lines are a bit visible up close but not bad as a gaming pieces, also finished painting some terrain i started in 2015 so quite chuffed with , and painted my first chimera and some old school cadians for a game which was fun.

No he didn't.

Oh well.

Wait... did you make the Forgeworld Manufactorum roof removeable so the interior can be played in.

That is SO COOL ! I just got mine out again for some pigment dusting. Cut it from the FW tile and made a whole Necromunda Underhive board around (and above) it. Lovely piece of terrain. Sad (or glad?) these are hard to come by these days. They made some really lovely gaming board tiles.

Lots of great stuff! The Anphelion base makes me wonder if making buildings out of the Munitorum Containers might be viable (if expnsive). Cut off the bottom quarter (feet), then cut them in half lengthwise and vertically and separate the halves by the width of a container. Then cut the bottom quarter (feet) off of a second container and glue it on top of the cut edges of the first container This gets you a double height center gallery with half width, single height galleries on either side. Like an upside down "T".

If you can make a home out of shipping containers IRL, I'm sure the Mechanicus already has a plan or 2 devised.
