Hivecast Primus Episode 1 - ORB

Love the podcast, and I'm looking forward to future episodes.

Two things. The first is watch your levels. I mention this because I used to work in musical theatre and currently assist people with their audio production for community television. This is something you'll improve with time.

The second, and this is more a personal thing, watch the length. I listen to a few 40K podcasts and quite a few are getting to over two hours long. Some almost four hours. Most people's commutes are around 45 minutes. Looking at your plans for future episodes you could spend more time on each gang by doing individual podcasts for the gangs and then maybe a scenario. E.g. "Goliath and Gang Fight", "Van Saar and Hit & Run". But I feel that you could probably easily talk for 45 minutes on each gang and then 45 minutes on each scenario. I think I could.

This will also mean you will hopefully not burn out of content to discuss too quickly.

Thanks again for the show.

Thanks for the feedback! Audio issues are a work in progress trying to combine decent enough equipment (that isn't too costly), the right config in the software and the editing. I believe our audio editor is great at what he does so its a matter of supplying him a good recording.

I think more episodes of shorter content is the way to go, and we'll be doing the next one soon. Will hopefully chat with nooker over the weekend, in New York at the moment for a conference this week.

Well, I try my best in any case. I'll see what I can do about the different levels. I have compressed them pretty severly allready but there is no reason to not try a little harder!

I'm all for shorter episodes as well, it makes it easier to edit! (One could still record a couple of hours worth of material during a single session)

Well, we have two (well really one that is split) recordings being edited right now, so you'll have more soon.

Is there a rough release date and / or content list ready for the next podcast? I have burned through the rest and enjoyed a lot of them very much.

Thanks for the kind words. I do have something ready for the next podcast that I have been sitting on. Life has been unpleasant lately (whine, bitch, moan, real life sucks!) & I lost my co-host (something about real life sucking and needing to do work on some website or other). However there is one person who knows how this works and his English is just fine, plus I need to keep up with the co-hosts sounding sexier than me. *nudge* *nudge* obar...

What, you don't like talking to yourself for an hour about toy soldiers in front of a microphone?? :D

Well, I do that anyway, without the mic & it's somewhat more than an hour...

While I am very happy with the reception that the cast has received, I do think that is in large part to the balance of two people talking and bantering. Having listened to one of my favorite podcasts that has 2 hosts (an Australian one called Mysterious Universe which I can readily and heartily recomend) with just one of the hosts, I kinda wish they had just skipped it even though it was good because the two of them is so much better. I can't help but think it would be similar.

Well, there should be plenty of interesting people on this forum that could co-host from time to time. There is after all some pretty exciting (in my opinion at least) stuff going on here most of the time, and I bet it wouldn't be difficult to get them to talk.

Sure what the hell, I'll do it if you want me to. It's not like my english is getting better by not taking it for s stroll once in a while!

Send me a pm or mail nooker.

SWEET! I was going to pester you in a bit (thought you said you were moving or something). I'll send a note soon!

Who does the music? I have a track sample I was making as an accompaniment to one of my brothers books but it turned out sounding like something from bladerunner so it was no good cos his books are Victorian horror. Let me know if you want to hear it, you could have it for a segment of something if you want.

The awesome sounds & music are by our very own notnorm. He's kinda an artistic jack-of-all-trades. The voice you hear is his wife's.

I would consider any submission. Anyone can pm me with their email address and I'll send you a link to my dropbox and I'll take a look/listen.

Bit of a derail, but I must say - I am constantly astounded by the talent of members of this site. All the modeling and painting talent, Obar has some awesome music talent also, Malo is a master in terms of vision and implementation of Necro tech (surely there is a statue of him somewhere on Mars), Cardy can cast (and joke), Nooker has wicked paper skills, sharkface and many others know the rules like the back of their hands.......the list goes on and on.

The breadth of skill at this level is truly impressive. Thanks for sharing everyone!
