Hello Yakkers!

Ive just finished installing some Ikea lights in my Hobby Battle Cupboard (TM pending) so I thought I’d share some photos. I’m quite proud of how it’s turned out even if I have “wasted” my recent limited hobby time with it.

All the shelves are designed in TinkerCad. I did nick the actual multi pot system shape from someone else though, so apologies if it’s yours. If it helps I was really impressed that you could put either pot type on a shelf. I’ve just changed the original design so that more pots fit on a shelf and designed attachment strips that you can stick on with 10mm 3M double sided tape to an Ikea Billy Bookcase. I think the original was designed for an Ikea peg board. All printed on a Elegoo Cenitro Carbon for about £15.

The grey containers are from Dunhelm a local UK shop a bit like Ikea, but only because it was less of a drive / they fitted the space.

I already had the black box attachments for tools and brushes, not sure where they are from, probably Amazon.

All cunningly designed to keep everything accessible and so that it closes away. I wanted it so that the hobby stuff is kept out of sight or can be moved for Teams calls, WFH, less nerdy friends etc.

Obviously it won’t look this tidy for long!!

Ta Clockwork.

PS if you want the STL’s just search them up in Tinkercad.

I’ve also had this Hobby Battle Board for a while now, but it’s very much for the same purpose, a quick way of moving projects out of the way so I can use the desk for work.

Just a cutting board stuck to an MDF sheet with door handles attached to make moving it easier.

Suppose I better do some actual projects now, procrastination at its finest!

God I love hobby workspace projects. This one makes me want to redo mine (even though it’s perfectly serviceable!)

Main question is - how does the cupboard relate to the work area? It looks like paints and tools are not directly at your work station?

Nothing a spinning wheely chair can’t solve of course…

That’s very neat! Though it does look like you can’t shut the door when the USB stick is plugged in.

You might want to get a VOC meter and put it in there when in use, you can get them and they’re similar to Carbon monoxide ones but it would alert you to any really nasty buildups that you wouldn’t want drifting around the house.

Another alternative would be a small extractor fan and hose to vent to air from the cupboard outside.

It entirely depends on how you feel about it.

I would be quite uncomfortable running a resin printer "indoors" as it were, in a space adjacent to where I sleep... As far as I can understand the vapors are indeed unhealthy for long-term contact.

Don't doubt a troll's constitution. The fumes might cause him to grow a second head, but it won't hurt him none.

On a more serious note you can buy a grow tent/grow chamber with an exhaust fan and vent it out your window when you print. You can probably find one the right size on Amazon for less than £100. Here's a good resource for DIY solutions that might be cheaper.
