Striking scorps, banshees, black guardians, all look a lot more van saar than the kairic bits, just wondering on if it creates elephantitis limbs or vice versa.
The Guardian kit is also ancient and chunkily sculpted. It doesn't include a chainsword.
Not gonna disagree with the first bit but the Storm Guardian upgrade kit does come with two chainswords - top right in the image below
Wow, Van Saar Juves got access to lasguns before Delaque got actual lasgun models!!Am I missing something or van saar juves with lasguns can out horde GoTU lasgun escher? 45 creds for a BS4+ body with a lasgun and built in undersuit. Also it can be upgraded with hot-shot and/or focusing crystals. And also they get to select their advances instead of randomly rolling for them?
I wonder... if the precedent was set with HoC showing plastic kit only models representing Juves?TBF looking back HoI set the precedence when orlock juves got a basic weapon in their gear list.
.... the mighty sawn off shotgun :-D
Proof that in principle it's fine, but when applied to arguably an undercosted Van Saar platform, then it becomes silly.
Hey, you do you. If you think those bits (or the Striking Scorpions ones) look good in person, use 'em.Not gonna disagree with the first bit but the Storm Guardian upgrade kit does come with two chainswords - top right in the image below
Neoteks indeed get a choice as to which kind of champion they can become - it was the same as in the other House books. Subteks and Teks cannot become champions - they become specialists upon promotion and cannot be promoted further.Primes don't get access to Las Sub Carbines? Do you think this is a mistake? Also......Do subteks/teks get a choice of which type of champion they become if they are promoted from specialist? Wasn't clear from my first look today.
... Damn. You're right. They've effectively excluded the option for ever equipping something from the stash if it wasn't purchased from one of the stated sources. At least it doesn't say the weapon had to be purchased for that fighter, so you can still equip stuff from the stash, but again only if it originally came from one of the permitted sources for that fighter.Even then you couldn't give the Prime a sub-carbine.
Primes can get weapons from one of two sources.
- their personal fighter list.
- the various trading posts.
Subcarbines are on neither, and thus they cannot be equipped.
Yep, that's definitely weird. I'd go with "if the item is either in the fighter's own list of in the Trading Post (if the fighter has access to that) and you have one of the item to spare, you can give it to that fighter, regardless of its actual source." Otherwise it gets far too ridiculous, really.Honestly, it gets weirder.
For example, Infrasights. Most Van Saar get them for 25cr on their list, and they're wargear so can be removed.
Neoteks don't get them, but can access them from the trading post. So a Neotek can buy a 40cr Infrasight from the trading post, no problem.
But can I buy a Ganger a 25cr Infrasight, remove it, then give it to the Neotek?
A 15cr discount on purchase and rating is significant.
I really doubt any player or arbitrator will go to the trouble of tracking from where every weapon originated. If you purchase a lasgun for a Subtek when founding your gang and they get killed, and the lasgun goes to your stash, I'm certain the intent is you can now equip it to a Tek.They've effectively excluded the option for ever equipping something from the stash if it wasn't purchased from one of the stated sources. At least it doesn't say the weapon had to be purchased for that fighter, so you can still equip stuff from the stash, but again only if it originally came from one of the permitted sources for that fighter.
I'd rule that yes, you can. You never purchase items for a specific fighter except when founding the gang. That's just the writers getting lost in their own mind with incompatible concepts. But can I buy a Ganger a 25cr Infrasight, remove it, then give it to the Neotek?
A 15cr discount on purchase and rating is significant. Plus, you've bypassed the rarity.
Also......Do subteks/teks get a choice of which type of champion they become if they are promoted from specialist?
They can be promoted further as per the N18 rulebook: they can purchase an advancement to become 'Champion'. The issue is that each gang now has 2 types of champions. Last time it has been discussed, the consensus was that Specialists should get the same promotion options as their gang's Prospects (i.e. they can choose to become either type of Champion, except for Escher who can only be promoted to Matriarch for fluff related reasons)Subteks and Teks cannot become champions - they become specialists upon promotion and cannot be promoted further.
It seems intentional, but the new fighter specific equipment lists of N20 are not perfect and there are many obvious errors previously. Whether if it's a mistake or not is difficult to say, but it is however completely meaningless. What possible 'value' does the game gain by having sub-carbine available to everyone but the leader?Primes don't get access to Las Sub Carbines? Do you think this is a mistake? Also......Do subteks/teks get a choice of which type of champion they become if they are promoted from specialist? Wasn't clear from my first look today.
