N18 House of Artifice (General discussion)

The plasma is just an alternative weapon for one of the attacks, but it's 6 attacks on the charge... right? 2 base, doubled for Paired, +1 for paired(second weapon), +1 for charging... right? the doubling from paired only triggers on the charge too. That's another reason I'm happy to learn about the stoping short strat.

Yes, your numbers are right. 2x2+1+1=6.

Right, that's what I'm saying seems weird. That effect seems weird to me. That you can stop before getting in base to base, even though charging says you have to make it to base contact or you fail. Seems like it should extent your charge range. What about attacking with additional weapons from further away?

Also I think it's weird that the spider-rig counts as two weapons slots when it's worn, not held. Anyone else?
How is that weird? It's been like that for over a decade across multiple other games. It feels completely natural to me and I've played at several competitive tournaments where this mechanic is used. Versatile increases threat range, not charge range. Threat range > charge range.

Kill Team does this a lot cleaner, where you are engaged if you reach within 1" and you don't have to go B2B at all. Smooth & simple. Not weird :p Also keep in mind the charge rules are older than the versatile rule.

I have a question about Thermal Mine - Van Saar Terrain. It doesn't use "Blast (X")" rule but just hits every fighter that is currently within 6" of the marker.

So when Thermal Mine explodes fighters that are behind the ZM walls, doors or something solid are also hit?

I'd say no. Unless there's a rules change I've missed along the way (very possible!), impassible terrain and closed doors are measured around for this sort of thing rather than through. Barricades wouldn't stop it, but terrain chunky enough to block movement and LoS should do.

Another "Archeotek-related" question - Gadgeteer skill say:

"If this fighter is in the starting crew, prior to the first
turn, they may modify the Weapon Traits of any weapon
they carry that has the Plentiful trait. If they do so..."

Why there is plural word "they"?
Word "they" is refered to "starting crew" or to Archeotek himself? If it about Archeotek, why GW didnt't used "thit fighter" as it's usually used.

I believe it is the fighter only, but thats just how I would read it rather than knowing...

They is used all the time in rules like this.

I would love it to mean any weapon in the starting gang, but I think "they" is singular in this case, like others have said. I think there is room to play it either way, but it would be an arbitrator kinda call. Maybe you could tie it to post battle actions to try to balance it. Let's say, if this champ doesn't preform any post battle actions then the next game they can modify the weapons traits of another fighter at the beginning of the battle... or something like that.

Team, I just found out my gangs lasgun/melta gun combi weapon is actually now only a laspistol/meltagun combi weapon.

But what is the price of this now? I keep finding conflicting information. 130 or 120 credits?

The combi-laspistol/meltagun is 130 credits as of House of Artifice, which supersedes the 120-credit combi-lasgun/meltagun from Gangs of the Underhive.

Hello All,

Probably asked before, but anybody happen to know whats happening with the House of Artifice Book re; availability? Ive been trying to buy this for a couple of months but no stock anywhere

No idea what’s happening in your region but it is online order only down in Australia.

At a guess the central GW stockpile in your region has run out and the worldwide stock is likely running low and due for a second run of printing. No idea on timing of extra runs.

If you have a local hobby shop that normally stocks Necromunda stuff it may be worth asking if they have a copy on their shelves or looking at some other online retailers as there are likely copies out in the wild.

I'm in the UK, honestly the only copy i have found online was someone chancing their luck with an asking price of £199!

Guess it must be a UK shortage unless anybody else knows of a place that has it in stock?

There was a hard copy available this weekend at my local hobby store in the USA.

I've gone digital for all the Necromunda books so the epub version is available but you need the device(s) for reading it and I don't play so I haven't had to deal with what that would mean at the table.

All the UK sites checked this morning show it out of stock or don't even list it. Element games has a note indicating that while it's on backorder they expect to be able to dispatch a copy on September 19th (with no guarantees). Good luck getting your copy.
