N18 House of Iron (General discussion)

No, the limit on champions is not linked to any campaign. Dominion Campaign rules appear in Necromunda Rulebook (2018). Limit to two champions in a starting list appears under House Gang lists under Gang Composition (p11 GoTU). But this section is being replaced in each ‘House of...’ book (eg p29 in Blades, p33 in Artifice).

The replacement section in each ‘House of...’ books no longer has a limit on starting champions, beyond having an equal number of (Leader+Champion+Special Champion) to (Prospect+Ganger+Juve).

[...]

That's a valid interpretation too.
At which point, @Vegeta365 it's down to the agreement of your group, as with so many aspects of the game.

My own reasoning was that Dominion references GotU, pg11 of which then says that all gangs follow those rules that include the limit on champions.
Yes, N18 clearly wasn't written in any expectation of the house books existing and yes, much of pg11 is reprinted in each house book while omitting the champion limit. It probably is intended for the champion limit to die off when N18 is fully obsolete/replaced but that's 4+ months away and while any gangs are still using GotU then in my opinion it needs to be a conscious decision (by group or arbitrator) whether to waive the limit for all or apply it to every 'clan-house' gang

The best current solution is to adapt the N20 gang structure to all house gangs, even if Cawdor & Delaque aren't updated yet. At least that's what I did in my rules compilation. I'm not willing to maintain two separate gang structures in parallel (gang composition, promotions, death of a leader etc.).

Please know that someone has actually collected, organized and compressed all rules down to a single document.

wow thanks. Where is that found? Anything I can type to easily find it?

I have all released books (except I’m waiting for the new van Saar book to arrive at my door) so it’s not like I don’t already own them, but playing games without having to flick through every book because you need one book for plasma grenades, another for trading post, another for your army list etc etc would be fantastic.

depending on its format being able to bookmark it would be really helpful given it must me a lot of pages.

Thanks

Main practical limit to a 4-champ starting line-up will be creds in a 1000 credit starting list. Cheapest options for 5 juves with one pistol in each house gang is as below (in brackets is 1x leader + 4x champ base cost, no weapons):
  • Goliath: 200 creds (535 - although could reduce costs with gene-smithing)
  • Escher: 125 creds (525)
  • Orlock: 200 creds (425)
  • Van Saar: 200 creds (570)
Dont think I’d realised how cheap Orlock were... that leaves enough creds for 5 grenade launchers, back up pistols and mesh on the leader... Not that would be very Necromunda.

Thanks for confirming this.

last night I actually checked the dominion rules and couldn’t find anywhere where it said you had a starting cap of 2 champs so I was coming back on here to post that and saw your response confirmed what I found. Good to know the gangs can start with 3 champs now like corpse grinders :)

Only thing I’d add is agreeing with @Unslain and @TopsyKretts... if in a campaign, best to get agreement with group and ruling from arbitrator. I mostly play Delaque, and don’t expect new rules til at least July. So best to either have same rules applied, or agreement over what options are.

It is almost 300 pages. Recommend anyone who wants an easier way to reference rules to check out this:

Quick question for people with the book; in House of Blades' weapons reference both the Two-Handed Hammer and the Two-Handed Axe lost their -1 to hit, and this wasn't addressed in the subsequent erratas. It's bugging me because it's quite a cool weapon update if it's gone, but might be a classic copy-paste error.

Do 2H hammers still have the -1 in House of Iron? I'm assuming that since Orlock used to have 2H Hammers in the House List it'll be somewhere in the book, and if two updated books say there's no -1 I might think about making some Escher with 2H weapons.

Anyone got an idea for female greenhorn models? Trying to source an entire female Orlock gang but can’t find suitable Juve models. Cheers

Took a bit of hunting but I use the girl from this set. https://paizo.com/products/btpy923b?Atomic-Punks

I wrapped some cheap jewellery chain around her hand as a flail.

There are a few other bombshell babes (bombshell miniatures) that would work.

I converted female chaos cheerleaders. Used the metal last chancers.
Converted a wrecker.
also Raging Hero’s have plenty of orlock looking females... just made from brittle resin.
Anvil and Victoria miniatures also might have bits.

Maxmini have some good soldier ladies, although whether they either exist or have stock at any given time has been... variable, for the past year or so

Watch out for scale on the raging heroes. They are super cool but taller than space marines (non primaris). I was going to use some as servitors and they made my tech marine look funky.

Really? I've got some of the Raging Heroes Jailbirds mixed in to my Escher gang and they're incredibly close in scale to the actual GW models.

I'd agree, as I have a couple of Jailbirds too. They match the Necromunda models quite well. Aren't most Necromunda models taller than non-primaris space marines as well?

Aw, boo!

Might just make the HammerLass anyway. Going to call her Sister Sledge.
Do it! Sounds fun! Only thing to bear in mind is that while SG team do copy+paste error a lot (how? It’s literally a duplicate - they must retype it) occasionally they do it deliberately. In this instance it sounds like an error but there’s no guarantee in a future FAQ that they won’t double down and be Escher hammers don’t have -1 for *reasons*.

@daKing I've got a few from Foundry - their Scabies punks.

Crooked Dice also do some nice cyberpunks too.

You can buy them individually so you don’t have to get that suited one if it’s not to taste

Fair, I haven't pulled them out to compare to the current necromunda line... And my classics do look small next to them... I guess it comes down to how juve you want the juves.

Raging heroes would be really good as the new no experience "adult" juves.
