Question How to promote a Juve to specialist?

I have reached 5 advancements with my Little Sister (Escher Juve) and the downtime is upon us. But I can't seem to find the option to make them a specialist. It is not in the Advancements section and the only way I can find is using the "functions" button to change their type. But that just feels off a bit.
Am I missing something or is it really just the "functions" button that works?

There is an option in advances for Promote to Specialist, but this is for Gangers.

Juves and Prospects can all choose their advances, rather than being random like Gangers. This means you can just change the fighter type, as you mentioned, which will change skill access and weapons restrictions.

Haven't got the book to hand, Juves have the option to become champions if they survive to the downtime and have a number of advances. This removes the need for them to become specialists if you want to give them better weaponary etc. That is the fuction you should be looking for

Juves had the option to become champs. The House books changed this. Now most Juves become specialists.
