Hypothetical Question: Selling of kitbashed minis

Well, check out the instagram for #Inq28 for some inspiration. There's a lot of creative kitbashing going on in the Inq28 community, though quite a bit of it is Blanchitsu in style which is generally more grimdark than Necromunda.

Kitbash is also good for things where minis are unavailable or outrageously overpriced. Like using sisters repentia for Escher juvies in N17+ or making a Spyrer gang for ORB. Or my Spyrer Matriarch (which does have a model, but they start around $50 each on eBay)

There’s loads of converted and kitbashed models at TribeMeet!! Of course it helps that they run NCE which has quite a standardised pattern for non-outlanders gangs. Though it’s not like N17-23 can’t have proxy gangs or just run as pure Venator or Outcast gangs though.

In fact I’d think YakTribe it more open to seeing kitbashes and conversions than most places.

Of course there’s going to be a lot of modern models on display no matter where you look - it’s the latest iteration of the game and the easiest way to get in is to just buy a Gang box.

Pre-2017 you saw a lot more custom gangs simply because model access wasn’t easy, the older stuff commanded a premium price (increasing over time) and the community was far easier going with something bringing along models created from a multitude of parts.

Along with my various other projects, I am kitbashing a version of the old Warhammer Duelist. The outrageous prices are why I kitbashed my own Slave Guild and Water Guild Delegations. I frequently kitbash versions of the FW figures... but often end up buying the FW ones anyways.

Nice kitbashes. If you were to sell for I would look at making molds of expensive parts like that nobles pistols so you could have cheaper parts for future kitbashes. Also you may find more than one person wants a certain kitbash. Though I suspect making repeats would be much less enjoyable.

Not that I've made molds myself but there are threads and tutorials on here using blue stuff etc.. and I'm really tempted..

Who could ever hate you? 🤔

Do you have a better picture of it?

Anyone who is easily annoyed by an over-enthusiastic jackass bombarding them with ideas.

I'll see if I can get a better pic. They look like a cross between a laser pistol and on old-fashion black powder pistol.

Of course if certain bits-makers *cough* @Mad Robot *cough* could make a sprue of such pistol
Told ya!! 🤣

I have a feeling a lot who try this route often go off to create bits services, or their own miniature ranges anyway which they can scale up as they own those parts and don’t have to track them down.

And those of us who can't sculpt (physically or digitally) to save our lives spend small fortunes on their products.... and annoyingly bombard them with ideas for new ones. 😝

Here's a couple pics of the figure they come from with a decent look at the guns. It seems they are fancy long-barrel revolvers with scopes. I'll see if I can find a pic of the guns themselves.

I definitely feel that kitbashing is something that needs to be promoted and encouraged... Where's the creativity? Where's the originality? Where's the imagination? The answer is simple.... the rules don't allow it and this dissuades most people from doing it. Why spend the time and energy (and money) to kitbash something that they aren't going to be allowed to use?

I think you're right regarding Necromunda/GW, but there are a lot of games out there that encourage - or practically require - kitbashing. Look at things like Sludge/Turnip28 or A War Transformed for example.
