Hello everyone,

joined the forums yesterday, as I finally decided to pull the lever and hop on Necromunda: Underhive. I've been postponing it ever since the re-start of the game. Frankly I am highly annoyed how it is managed by GW - clear splitting of rules into pretty big books seems very anti-consumer move. But oh well, my love for tabletop rpg's and miniatures quaranteed I would fall to the urge at some point.

After bit of contemplating, I decided to start with House Orlock. My email rang this morning, and told me that the Orlock gang box was packaged with House of Iron -booklet, Arms Masters & Wreckers box + weapon sprue. Cannot wait to get them in few days.

Worthwhile mention - I will take part in YakComp46, and that can be followed in this thread.

Nice to meet you!
:)

Nice to meet you too. You'll find plenty of us are also annoyed at how GW handled the Necromunda re-release, but don't let that put you off, whichever version(s) you play.

We all are. 😉 Still, if it continues Necromunda development we can put up with it. You only need to buy the bits you want.

Or perhaps have a look at community resources to help, like:

Thank you both! It is true that we can choose what we left affect our hobby, I do my best to put GW-practices aside!

I did look at Necrodamus before, I think it is really impressive work! Good tool, really good.

The order has arrived! I'm a happy camper today. Took me good time to finally hop on the game!

Done reading through House of Iron, and I am bumped for the gang decision! I like Orlock flavour a lot.

I haven't locked in the theme or backstory of my gang, but I feel it would be really good fun to tie it with current YakComp46 - something chef or kitchen related. Fast food service under the Cinderjack family? :ROFLMAO: Anyways, I am kind of having a solid idea for the paintjob that like half the time respects the "box art" color scheme.

  • Overall, gameplay wise I really am liking Gunners. Both with shotguns and autoguns. Will see how I end up modelling mostly, but I might end up having both types times two...
  • Will model someone with heavy bolter, or heavy stubber. You always need one good boy with a big toy.
  • Double stub gun Wreckers are cool.
  • Greenhorns seem weak, but I think in terms of my gang theme, I might need couple of meat shields since our boys dont know how to carry a metal one

Exciting project. Really exciting.

Wreckers are one of the few Prospect models that seem to have quite a bit of utility! Make good use of those speedy boys and girls!!

Yeah Wreckers with pistols feels nice. I did laugh when I read about demolition charge Wrecker, but I feel that really isn't a starting gang member.

Plus the FAQ said wreckers can keep their jump jets when the get promoted up.

Really sweet. Love the added mobility, when playing the objective.

First concept for the model in my gang. He will also be part of my entry for YakComp46.

Name: Dex The Street-Chef
Role: Orlock Gunner (Ganger)
House Cinderjackets (my own, part of the whole House Orlock <-> House Cinderjack powerplay that is described in 'House of Iron' -book)

Weaponry: Autogun

Dex The Street-Chef used to be responsible for his road crew's provisions, and food preperations. Now offered a chance to join an upstart gang under House Cinderjackets, whose primary goal is to finally make up enough name to be able to join The Table alongside Orlocks, Cinderjacks, Kamund and Merdenas.

Would a conflict arise in his way, Dex shows no fear to see the meat is overdone.

Recognisable traits: TBC

Thought I would blog, and log my painting of my models. So here's the undercoat stage.

full.png

  • Primed with Eshin Gray
  • Drybrushed all over with Administratum Gray
  • Upper third of the model drybrushed with Ulthuan Gray
  • Controlled wash with Purple

The base is just primed with black.

This is my go-to setup for a model that will receive contrast / speed paint products. Since my color palette has yellow in it, purple shadows will do our model justice.
