Inquisimunda v2 - Reborn from ashes - Community Edition

I don't think we need an overlord, but it makes sense for one person to be in charge of updating the file with changes that have been approved by the group.

I do think we ought to adopt a more formal approval process, so it's not left to one person what makes it in and what doesn't. What about something like this:

All proposals require three votes in the affirmative to be adopted. Each vote in opposition to a proposed change negates one affirmative vote. Once an affirmative vote stands 48 hours with a net tally of three affirmative votes, the proposal is approved.

So, basically, a proposal would need a vote of 3-0, 4-1, 5-2, etc. to be adopted, which seems about right based on the number of people who typically weigh in on things here. At that point we could lock the change and the master collator or whatever could add it to the master file.

If it helps I tend to follow all the threads here (and on the entire forum bar the modeling section to be honest), so I can always add additional stuff to the typos & amendments thread so that whoever is in charge of the main file only has to check one spot for updates etc. If it helps at all...

I like the voting system for making changes btw.

Okay, I'll say now, once the master files have gone to the next custodian, I would recommend a revisit over all the lists and see where we are up to, as I've seen in a fair few posts now that people don't know what stage the current list is up to or even what the current list is. I think once the master file is acquired, there is a short freeze of a few days while that person updates the lists with the 'current' format, and we collate current discussions on each.

Feel free to disagree if folk think it isn't needed, but I suggest it as an option for consideration to try and reduce confusion going forwards.

Agree 100 percent. I also think it might be useful to work through sections of the document a little more methodically, a chapter (or warband) or two at a time. As it is, we tend to get a little scattered, which can make it difficult for more than one or two people to follow a given issue at the same time.

haha, I'm flattered, but reckon that's just good bookkeeping to organize the revision process... so maybe a bookworm title is more appropriate :p

Okay, so with me voting aye as well, we have orur first successful vote! To vote for a voting system :p.

Obvs this pending anyone saying nay within 48hrs...

A quick reminder that the current document is an Adobe InDesign file so you kinda need the software to open or modify it. If you need help on how to modify the document or anything related to it feel free to ask me.

A CALL TO ARMS

So this is certainly an off topic Rick Roll of a post, but that is the point. I am copy an pasting this into a few notable threads in order to drum up some volunteers. YakTribe is an amazing community, but with the whole balance of power and responsibility, I am trying to source some help for a bit of Community Service.

The general plan is to break down a set number of topics based on what sort of feedback I get where the topic would be a semi-generalization of several threads made in a section of a similar topic. It would be summary of old topics, hyperlinking key elements, and arrangement in a comprehensible read as there are often several threads that share similar FAQ style or various-iterations-on-same-houserule-idea that only consist of a few posts, maybe even a redirect back to a more major thread on the topic.

Ultimately my plan is to do some house keeping on the back end and reduce the number of pages of threads to format the site in as user friendly a manner as possible. Don't you dare use the word streamline. This does not focus very much on the Miniatures and Terrain section, as this is more project logs (although there might still be some work put in here), but the other sections are more often discussions on rules clarifications, would-this-work questions, all those wonderful things that having summarized collections of - matched with an overall reduction of the depth of the thread banks - would be guaranteed help to old-new-average Yaks in tremendous amounts.

As an incentive, what I am thinking of doing is donating $5-$10USD to the website for every participant that puts in an effort that I would ultimately be grateful of. Likely even more for outstanding efforts. It is a big back log on here so for me to tackle this project on my own would be ludicrous. Now, please do not interpret this as me being in some situation of financial comfort, I am just trying to drive the point of "put your money where your mouth is". If you really really did not want to go through the bother of any of this, maybe a small donation of similar size to the site could do just as much. If we put beer in the big guy (or help cover costs of owning children, etc.), he might say piss off to work and go code or run various site maintenance in a dark basement for hours on end. Either way.

So what I would request is that if you are of any interest (and you think that in August and September you might be able to lean your site time towards getting a good crack of this accomplished, send me (@Blood Donor) a PM. I will likely collect volunteer info for the next two weeks and then send out responses, so if you send a message later today saying "Hey this is awesome, I'm in!" and then I don't get back to you until like the 5th of August, well this should be expected.

DO NOT REPLY TO THIS POST IN LINE, SEND ME A PM. NO NEED THREADJACKING BEYOND THIS SPECIFIC POST.

Awesome. Hope to hear back from people on this. I know it sucks and all but I think this could be good for the community. I will remove these posts once we reach that first weekend of August sort of deadline.

Thanks for your time :)

Here's something I'm implementing in our currently campaign to mainly detract ppl from only playing with hive world looking terrain. Considering imunda is expanded universe as well:

Random terrain type setup:
2: the player with the lowest gang rating sets up terrain and rolls one treacherous condition just before the first activation token is drawn.
3: play ruins board and roll one treacherous condition before the first activation token is drawn
4-5: play ruins board
6-8: play hive world board
9-10: play forested/hills/feudal board
11: play forested/hills/feudal board and roll one treacherous condition before the first first activation token is drawn
12: the player with the highest gang rating sets up terrain and rolls one treacherous condition just before the first activation token is drawn.

Do you think a similar method might be useful in imunda?

I like the idea of terrain charts but as far as storage and time constraints involving making the terrain not everyone can do this. I'm currently trying to build up some spaceport terrain and some wild west style buildings to represent imperial outposts. With that in mind I think the chart isn't going to be used that much.
its not meant to be strict. just an idea to get ppl away from the nmentality that its a necromunda game

Maybe another tool/idea for the GM resource book? could really tie in well with the 'building a story/theme for your game' section.

Those sorts of charts work well if you've got all the terrain to hand. Mind you - I've got one set of Hive terrain and one set of ruined city terrain, and while modest, these do take up a lot of space. As others have said it would be a good idea for the resource book.
