That reminds me - Aberdeen Uni Engineering Dept (used to?) have a highly detailed scale model of an oil rig in the lobby area - It always struck me as a spectacular terrain piece for Necromunda!

I can't find one of the Univerity of Aberdeen model - but did find one of the model in the Aberdeen Maritime Museum *droools*

Pretty close to 28mm too!

hmm, now to work out how to smuggle that out under you coat....

New Kickstarter, An interesting and fun one, especially if you have kids and looking to get them into Skirmish gaming

If you are looking for a new 28mm skirmish game to play but don't want a heavy rule set to wade through and memorise then Mini Gangs is for you! If you want a game to get your kids playing table top games then Mini Gangs is for you!

Check out Mini Gangs Skirmish Game by Curtis Fell on Kickstarter

Have to say this is a nice little game and one that encourages a lot of strategic play and clever thinking but with very slimmed down rules

New Kickstarter from mantic - Its a KoW Skirmish game - some of the minis look great. At the moment I don't feel it's worth the money, but as soon as stretch goals start unlocking it might be worth looking at again.

Only a short one - 14 days left
Rules seem pretty interesting, and the big pledge with everything needed is pretty cool... could not resist temptation! Now my biggest worry is: will I fucking have enough time in a year to assemble and paint even a decent chunk of that?!? I feel like that's the problem with gaming kickstarters, they're one of the *worst* thing possible for the lousy plastic-crack that we are: so easy to convince oneself to not resist the temptation: "oh but this supports a cool project/company", "what a great deal!", "I'm a bit behing with my painting and gaming these days, but eh, this is for so long into the future that I bet I will have it all figured out by then!" and all that crap :p

Anyway... looking forward to it, and I wish some players would get started in my area on this! KoW was basically inexistent, while I like its mechanics a lot!

Nothing wrong with the post, and some very slick looking terrain

We do have a thread up and running of all the goodies found on Kickstarter, so I might port it over there. Although given that Kickstarter runs on a timeframe basis (ie "only x number of days left to fund"), it is essentially a thread dedicated to things that are quickly past the point of availability. A bit baffling, but I will move it over there anyways :D

....Aaaaand excuse the redundancy of this post now that it is located here :p

Dropping this here as it's the appropriate thread.

More I think about it this game checks off a lot of boxes for me as I've been close to buying into Zombicide a few times.
Probably will be the closest I'll ever see to a Inquisition Co-Op board game. Even considered building one using Silver Tower but this looks pretty solid.

@Space Truckin with Zombicide (coming from someone who has several versions) I would honestly recommend that if you have been close to getting into Zombicide several times but haven't due to the mechanics (e.g you've played it and it didn't grab you or you thought it was lacking something) then only back once you can justify the minis/price ratio, my gaming group played The original and the Toxic City mall expansion heaps then thought that Black Plague would be a good shakeup and literally played it twice, I don't regret backing it at all as the value for the amount of minis was great(it basically became my frostgrave kit) but in terms of 'shaking the game up' literally all of my gaming group felt that it was a thrown on cosmetic change that didn't fit that well (aka medieval zombie killing still 100% felt like a shooting thing and avoid cc at all costs even though 50% of the characters were melee focused)

I haven't played a Zombicide game ever but I get what your saying. I've been close to ordering the 1st version several times - watched a lot of play thus, just never got around to it. There was always a shiny new Games Workshop product around the corner competing for my hobby dollars.
After muddling through the new Necromunda rules, I'm thinking this maybe a good break. If the rules have been developed over a few incarnations than that is a bonus.

Treating this as Survivors / Inq vs. Zombies / Chaos Spawn - It could be the Co-Op board game I always wished GW would make. ( Execution Force is excellent by the way! Just a little light on replay-ability )

Interesting point about CC weapons though and Black Plague never appealed to me due to the setting. It seems like they've introduced a mechanic in this one as well where guns and flamers won't work in the space environment - making melee weapons and if you can get them energy weapons and energy packs more desirable.

TBH I wouldn't really say they have developed the rules over a few incarnations, they've introduced new mechanics over each expansion and then c new skin"(black plague) but the game has remained the same, for example black plague introduced "vault weapons" basically special weapons that were rare however really only 2? Out of maybe the whole 10 were even worth using, it's kind of a case that the original worked really well as beer and pretzels (it is a really simple game to play) and adding in more mechanics/variations IMO didn't really add anything after the first expansion to the original (toxic city mall). Don't get me wrong it is a blast to play and my copy of the original is well worn, I would highly recommend a version of zombicide as a 1-2hr simple (from a minis POV), but from what it sounds like your describing I don't know if you will get that from a zombicide game. The easiest way to describe a Zombicide game is that it is a zombie video game similar to left 4 dead, if you're looking for more gameplay depth than that you aren't likely to find it

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Hopefully it's still a Beer & Pretzels game at its core and a bit more entry level to miniature gaming than Necromunda. I've also been contemplating in getting Dead of Winter as well although that's a whole other genre.
