I’m having some difficulty trying to track down a piece of music that I’ve come across on various YouTube videos over the years but have never been able to tack down the music on iTunes or anywhere else for that matter.

The music is the first piece on this video:

Here’s what I know. The piece is a version of a variation on the traditional Japanese piece called ‘Sakura’. Comments on videos I’ve found claim it is called ‘Moonlight Dance’ by a group called ‘Osaka Clear Youth Orchestra’, and Shazam backs this up. However, my google-fu is failing me I can find no music by this group apart from listings on music streaming or radio services listing an album called ‘From the Past’ but no actual music. iTunes has a listing also, but no music. I’ve hunted for this off and on for a few years, but someone has suggested asking a friendly Japanese-speaker to try a google search as they may be listed under their Japanese form name.

This task is beyond me, so I’m reaching out to the community to see if anyone can help! I’m beginning to think this group is a creepypasta or something. To make matters worse, some music is being erroneously attributed to them; a song from Last Samurai is also being credited to them and I know it’s not them cos it was Hans Zimmer.

Anyhow, any help much appreciated!

I don’t subscribe to Apple Music, so that’s as far as I got. I tried to check on Gendou but it’s mostly anime songs, and I couldn’t find a search feature.... weird, eh?

I’ve got an Apple Music subscription and have followed that link before, it just leads to a blank page. That’s all I can find, is links on sites that lead to nowhere.

Also my wife thanks you because it gave her a reason to explore traditional japanese songs on spotify.

She used to be in the traditional japanese instrument club so it was a fun experience for her

Both. I do recognize most of the hiragana and katakana, but that’s about it. Some kanji too, but not enough.
Duo is good but nothing substitutes for finding a good teacher. Also kids books and songs are good to help you build your vocabulary around daily life and you get to see the words in context with pictures. If course manga is good for that too but make sure you get one that has furigana. The little hiragana next to the kanji.

I’ve seen some with those, long before I started Duo. Do they explain the kanji?
I know I’m picking something up because there are times when i can watch anime and know “that’s not what he said” when reading the subs.

Oh it just explains how to read the kanji. That way you can look it up in your dictionary if you don't know it

Like when someone says their name, but that they spell it with the kanji for x and y?

I think I’ve seen some anime titles that are written that way too
