Ahoy, all!
With a new year, I am looking at dropping a new gang into our perpetual campaign, alongside my Pit Slave uprising, and my secondary "outlaw Kroot bounty hunters". Given my penchant for hobbitses of all sorts, having had a ratling sniper in my original Pit Slave gang, back in the late 1990s, and with the recent* plethora of sci-fi-dystopia Ratling miniatures from a host of different companies and sculptors, I was thinking Ratlings.

While the general consensus of discussions on Discord and Reddit appear to have been "arm every one of them identically with bolters," and where the sculpts themselves from almost everybody are armed with either lasguns or autoguns, I am aiming to arrange a mix of all three for the basic weapons, BUT in keeping with the wanting to have flair to a Venator gang, and my penchant for wanting my gangers to be individuals and not a 40K unit, especially given the numbers in a Ratling venators gang, I have been focusing my attention on personal equipment.

Doing so has got me thinking about my favourite odd bits of personal equipment of Rarity 8 or less.

So now I am nosy. What are YOUR favourite bits of kit (not weapons or armour) of rarity 8 or less?

[To ensure fairness, I will mention mine, but not until we are into this discussion.]

What piece of personal equipment do you hope that YOUR venators find in their Fistmas stocking?
[Aha! THAT is why so many gangers are modeled by GW in only one shoe! They have hanged up one stocking by the burn barrel for Fistmas!]

With some answers over on the Discord, here are the bits that I have included so far, and what I am looking to further include.

1. Cameleoline Cloak. A cloak on a ratling in cover? Getting not hit is far better than armour.

2. Grapnel gun, plus medicae kit. With giving an assist being worth experience (as of N23), this combination can be both useful as well as a good setup for a specialist or champion. A probably decent amount of experience, and the mobility to work on scenario objectives.

3. Specialty ammo. While most specialty ammo is Limited, the 75 credit Bullet Merchant hanger-on is an investment in not having to worry about re-buying ammo, if you are using a lot of specialty ammo. Combat Shotgun (on ogres, for template-avoids-BS action on a decent movement fighter) with Firestorm, Bolters and Autoguns have a wealth of interesting ammo types (warp rounds, for example). And while they are not ammo, but instead a weapon upgrade, the Hotshot lasgun upgrade sort of fits this thinking. And all of these are officially Basic Weapons, which gives ratlings a bonus when shooting after aiming. Plus a ratling ganger with a hotshot lasgun is only 55 credits.

4. Grav chutes. Because discounting a 12" drop when getting distance between your sniper and that Corpse Grinder that climbed up to finally reach you, is hilarious. And since the grav chute isn't an Action (unlike the Drop Rig or Grapnel) it works while carrying a loot crate or similar objective.

I feel that a ratling in full servo harness would be the most adorable lil baby Aliens power loader.
