With Necromunda on the way I've decided to replace/rebuild my paint set, and short of some random GW paints I'm starting pretty much from scratch.

Since my first three gangs to paint are going to be Escher, Goliath, and Delaque can anyone recommend a paint set or custom set? I've only ever bought GW paints before but I'm leaning towards reaper paints atm.

I quite like the Vellejo model colour range.
They also have a game colour range for fantasy and gaming pieces and also a range formulated for use in air-brushes.

I've also heard that P3 and Army Painter are very good, though I haven't used them myself.

Nostalgia wise, I do miss the old Humbrol Matt Acrylics. They were good rich pigments and didn't dry out in the pot once the seal was broken.

My preference is for Vallejo as a) I love the dropper bottles they come in, and b) I can get them in my FLGS rather than online or from a chain store.

Vallejo do a Game Color set which is basically GW colours with very similiar names like Beasty Brown and Sunblast Yellow. (Vallejo were in line to produce GW's new paint range but it fell through, hence the names)

Army Painter do a good range (https://www.thearmypainter.com/)

I've heard good things about P3 paints (Priveteer Press) http://privateerpress.com/formula-p3/paints

And of course Reaper as you've mentioned.

It will depend a lot on your painting style. Do you mix your own colours like myself, therefore dropper bottle paints are better to measure out mixes (in which case I'd recommend Vallejo or Army painter) or do you paint straight from the pots in which case you'll want someone with a large range of paints.

I like some paints from most lines. E.g. GW's base range are great and their washes are second to none. Vallejo game colour paints are mostly great although their yellows and reds are kinda rubbish. P3 reds are great. Vallejo model air metallics are some of the best, even for brush painting. Army Painter do nice spray cans and matching pots and I hear their washes are good. Never tried any Reaper paints.

If you particularly want to stick to only one range I would go for either Vallejo Game Colour or GW.

If you go with any of the ranges with the dropper bottles, I'd recommend putting an "agitator" inside, just like the ones in the spray/rattle cans you buy at the DIY shop.
I use ceramic baking beads, (https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Tala-Ceramic-Baking-Beans-Pie-Pastry-Beads-700-Gram/1604545895) the kind used by your Mom for blind baking pastry. They're inert so won't react with the paint, and when shaking the bottle help mix the paint and prevent separation of the pigment and medium.

Great tip.
I'll look into trying it myself.

I have a range of different makes, depending on what I want from them. Most of the more muted colours, such as browns, greys, greens are Vallejo. The brighter colours, such as reds and yellows I've found the GW ones are better. The GW washes and metallic are also a lot better IMO

I agree with GW doing a very good pigmented red. Also Averland Sunset is a very good base for any yellow color.

I’d agree that some of GWs washes are better than Vallejo’s (Agra Earthshade and Seraphim Sepia, personally I rate the Rest of Vallejo’s washes as better than GW.
