Make the THUNDERCUBE great again! COMMUNITY PROJECT

So… @ClockworkOrange you didn’t like the not-a-hologram suggestion.

How about mini LED signs? Either on the THUNDERCUBE!!! Or in Trollholme??

You could get it done before TribeMeet! Go on, you know you want to…

So THUNDERCUBE fans I think it’s time to return to the MK III ‘CUBE and add some upgrades plus I want to make it a playable 4x4 table. General ideas so far:
  1. Walk of champions. Statues? large entryway sign.
  2. 2 sets of stairs for the sides
  3. Trim for the base boards edges
  4. Upgraded electrics / switches to remove bulkiness, make some of the more shoddy electrics work again.
  5. More container shops for the walk of champions / surrounding area.
  6. Fighter warm up area / paddock / captured gangers holding area with tents etc
  7. New holo spinner? Does the current one still work? 🤣 I’ve just ordered a new one.
  8. Upgrade the video? we must have some “skilled” voice actor Yaks who can do this?
  9. General repairs / touchup.
What would others like to see?

I could certainly help out with providing a voice or two for the videos.

Do we have any ladies here that could also do voices, so we don’t have to hold down Spafe and apply the bulldog clips…

I’m also intrigued by the 4’x4’ playable table bit.
I assume you mean that you’re going to expand the inner playing surface a bit and then the outer areas around the stadium will be enlarged to include things that could be played around in more regular Necromunda type games (a bit like Trollholme)??

@MusingWarboss yep, Trollholme and especially New Barterton have loads of bits I might set up in the surrounding area so that it’s playable as a proper Necro Game table.

We’ll probably need rules for shooting the NPCs and what happens when a sanctioned match breaks out mid gang fight. Do the resident Enforces/Arbites go after you?! But just thought it’d be cool.

They say never feed the troll, but here we go again:

Why worry about going outwards, when you can build upward:

Or a more stable version that is 4x4 on the bottom and has the cube sitting on a hollow box (and is illustrated a lot more poorly)

Do you fancy any fully seated areas or VIP guest bits? (Or even a paupers gallery)

Might be handy to pad out an area where it’s hard for us to put our own minis on?

They also do a nice selection of lone civvies too.

It’d get your newly housed 3D printer going anyway.

I’ve been messing around with various blanks for the holofan base, those who have been lucky enough to see it in person know that it’s quite noisy. Turns out the first fan I got was/is unbalanced, this one is much quieter by default even before I’ve put it in this custom holder.

This is the 5th iteration, mainly to fit the fan snugly and make various minor design changes.

FDM printing really is great for this. I’m going to print a 6th to match the current block size, the ones above are smaller to save filament, and then add resin details as per before. No clipping noise so far, so its win.

Work is progressing on the CUBE revamp, mainly getting moar parts together, spent silly money on new electrics, and I’ve removed all the old cabling in preparation.

Hopefully the switches can be built into the board rather than the bulky usb hub it did use, freeing up space behind the wall of champions side for surrounding scenery.

A tiny milestone is starting to print my new replacement Holofan stand using the custom FDM stand and resin printed greebles. I’ll share photos tomorrow, hopefully it will eliminate the vibration noise the old one makes.

Holofan MK2 assembled and ready for slopping some paint/muck on. Unfortunately I won’t be painting the spinner this time, there’s exposed circuits on the top of this version and something in acrylic paint seems to eat electrics over time. Nor will I be adding the vents, Ive ran out of the ones I cut off from market shipping container shops.

Obviously you aren’t going to notice much difference with the new version when done, but the whole thing makes a lot less noise, it is much lighter without the counter weight, the power cable won’t be painted and start to rot and the block is designed so I can change out the fan if it breaks again. Deep breath. I’m starting to feel like the curator of a holy relic 🤣

It has just shot one of the memory cards it uses across the room and annoyingly I can’t find it, so that’s another job! loading the CUBE adverts over the Christmas one.

I have a scripts for a couple of new adverts (Totally Honest Deek's Used Tranports and Sumpway) I need to record them and add video, then they can go on the Jumbotron.
