Make the THUNDERCUBE great again! COMMUNITY PROJECT

Is the old one refurbishable or is it being retired?

Doesn’t matter about paying the fan blade, once it’s operating you’re not supposed to see it anyway and if it’s off… well, it’s off.

Old Holo Fan Retired / Repurposed given away maybe?

Im making lots of time consuming progress, however I don’t think I’ve got much to show for it yet so havent been taking many pictures.

The plan for this Mankymeet 2 is to get the CUBE so it can sit on the table as a scenery piece, I’ll then start making the surrounding buildings another time / use stuff I’ve already got.

I’ve seen nothing! I’ve only heard tell of the thundercube and had a vague idea of what it actually is. Looks like I’m in for a treat in a few weeks!

After a recent visit from the Imperial HSE the CUBE failed its fire risk assessment….not to worry, seeing as everyone on planet has a STL these days I’ve been putting the local one to good use.

Imagine these either side of the Holofan, each will have a tower as shown with a stand sign directing lucky punters to their seats.

Those staircases really embiggen the cube's footprint and look great. I see those steps leading up to various types of platforms, enforcer precinct entry, uphive gate, nowhere (shattered platform), etc.

Yaks I need your help, go forth and find me some statues to either print or buy for the CUBE walk of champions, I’m thinking Roman gladiator type things.

The British Museum has a project on that they’re 3D scanning their exhibits which you can then get the stl and print a version yourself. Just don’t do it 1:1.

Some are free some are paid. Obviously free is probably better for your purposes.

If that’s no good have you tried searching for 54mm Roman Gladiators on Etsy etc??

I had a quick look, there’s a few several in metal but around the £20 mark so perhaps a bit much for some scenery.

This next lot are under £5 each (and metal) but perhaps not the crispiest of sculpts. Does that matter for a statue which will probably be bronze or marble??

EDIT: Ah, it appears they’ve just closed down. 🙁 Typical.

If you wanted a walk of champions type thing could you buy underhive model stls and print them at 54mm scale?

Thanks Yaks - this will very much be a bonus project if I get everything else done. I like the idea of finding some Pit Fighter STLs and increasing the size to 54mm. Alternatively I might take longer post meet and see if I can make some ex champion proxies.

Works are progressing, I’m trying to get all the construction complete this weekend so I can break out the sponges and paint next weekend.

The Towers are holding me up, I was hopeful I could get an undercoat on everything tonight, but I’m waiting on a 5 hour print. I’ve decided the 2nd towers will look great with another storey, it will also visually explain why they funnel into the two exits beside the royal box. I’m rambling but I’m sure this will all make sense when you see the pictures.

I reckon that’s these are done, other than some hoarding for exit signs on the reverse side.

Added 2 steps to take you to stadium height, another platform to explain why there’s only one staircase, and then the stand signs. Bonus is I can now use the lower gated platforms for THUNDERCUBE hoarding which will look cool.

What does any self respecting Stadium need? Training CUBES that’s what! I know, I know they look like octagons at the mo, but all will become square when the surface plates and access gates finish printing. Imagine hazard stripes, razor wire and the TCU logo.

Really must stop making things, they’ll need painting….
