Not sure if this is the correct part of forum?

I am putting together a Necromunda/ Heroquest game for playing against my teen as she doesn't like the plain gang format. I was wondering has anyone else ever put something like this together or if anyone has seen a Sci fi rpg game that has the equivalent of the old heroquest cards?

The game is played using the standard necromunda profiles and equipment, with the add of adrenaline shot from the new comp' game. However I'm making it more like a heroquest map where a room (or two) is cleared of npcs with pieces to activate/collect at a time, its just missing that random element of wandering monsters and hazards etc.

Depends what you have to hand.
You could adapt Blackstone Fortresses encounter deck. Otherwise a few simple d6 encounter charts.
if I was going to attempt something I'd probably use Spacehulk tiles. Say 2 25mm bases max per square and swap inches for squares. Then just draw up a rough Encounter\event cards for rooms and some form of priority roll for activating with a perils chart for natural 1s.

It would take a bit of work to balance but that in itself could be done with the teen, as you create challenges and encouters\hazards etc.

I vaguely remember a Citadel Journal article making reference to just such a scenario for N95, but I don't remember if it was really detailed. Blarg88 has the same advice that I would, however: adapt BSF encounters and antagonist behaviour charts, and make use of Space Hulk tiles for your exploring element. The N95 "Tunnel Fighting" article [in the Vault, I think?] looks at incorporating Space Hulk tiles with their marked inches for playing Necromunda, and much of THAT ruleset [focused on movement and line of sight] would apply to N17, N18, N20.

(this is my other profile) I have the zone mortals tiles and two sets of dark uprising so using that to build the boards, space hulk tiles are ridiculously priced on ebay as had looked at those previously. Will see if my friend is still selling his BSF set and has the cards available. Does that have the old "wandering monster" and trap events?

Almost sort of.

It has a selection of Exploration cards, half of which are combat maps and half of which are other events [a mix of "Ambush" wandering monsters, and traps, and the like]. It also has "monsters" in a separate antagonists deck of Encounter cards, to put the antagonists on the combat maps and on the ambushes. Antagonists on the cards are made up of: traitor guard, beastmen, ur-ghuls, Alien Robot Drones, rogue psykers, Dark Mechanicus, Chaos Space Marines, and Chaos Space Marine champion. Substituting equivalents from your chosen setting would work fine, in that regard, if you are just using the board and cards as a framework on which to hang your 'Munda. Drones are weakest, then guard, beastmen, mechanicus, ur-ghuls, marines, champion, in the "distribution plan" on the Encounter cards.

You might be better off adapting Space Crusade, particularly if you have the card ZM tiles.

Then you get access to blips (hidden moving randomised enemies) plus each team gets access to equipment cards. Oh and it’s very special/heavy weapon friendly seeing how easy modern gangs get access to them.

You could have gangs cooperate or compete against each other to complete missions if it’s more than just you & daughter.

Have both the card tiles and the new placcy ones, using a quest narrative to pre draw a rough game map to work through. Had adapted aos to play it using same format previously so I could write dnd style game with a couple of route options, with appropriate level monsters with puzzle rooms and was then using the treasure cards from heroquest to do searching once npcs cleared. For example the first test run had them raiding a hideout specifically to steal a medi bot for alchemy usage by main party ld. Two mortalis tiles were set up in a row with the bulkhead doors and guards to represent the hideout entrance at one end, the four pcs being used by the girls at the other with Los blocking terrain to sneak around (sentry rules used for guards) and played it through as you would munda, before they had to pick the lock and see the next two tiles of terrain. So very easy port over, we rolled for activation order as usual etc. However it does miss that random element of bits like wandering bomb rat (ideal as I used a Cawdor gang as the gribbly team.)

Do miss space crusade was my first gw purchase as a wee runt!
Trying to keep weapons as low tech as poss, so that there is something to work towards, so one has basic shotgun and cleaver one with a Las pistol and medi pack etc
They will just use two characters each to keep it like a heroquest party (also newmunda is very slow with high model counts). I will then use a pre worked list equivalent gang rating and break it into 2-3 mini parties as you would see in heroquest rooms.

Aye its fleshed enough already just needs that little bit of random factor. I'm think it's gonna have to be a d66 chart as my mate has already sold the BSF set and as much as I like some of the models I'm not paying out for a full new set just to cannibalise it....

@Aulenback tried to find the tunnel fighting rules you mentioned but not had any luck, is there a particular area of forums to search?

I would advice to download the Space Crusade board tiles from the 90s and print 'em on cardboard or other suitable materials.

Why Space Crusade and not Space Hulk? The tunnels and rooms of the latter are too narrow and small. That was fine to reenact the Alien movie but wouldn' t be suitable when you use a full Necromunda gang of ten individuals.

I created about 15 years ago gaming materials in that way but for Space Hulk from the 90s. It also included doors and blips.

One word of advice though:
Before you print it all out in colour, which is expensive, do a test print in B&W to check if the size of your board tiles are correct. Back in the day I had to readjust that because they were either too small or too large.

Created the 2nd as I am a bit of a clueless twit with regards picture files sizes and had reached my limit of uploaded pictures, even deleting many which I wish I hadn't and couldn't work out way to add more bar starting a new profile so I can have finished paint jobs on cards rather than grey plastics.... Typically haven't got round to doing any more pics since though as have been focusing on my terrain backlog.

Ahh - I think you get a certain image size limit either per month or ever (not sure sorry) unless you contribute to the upkeep of the site, it’s how @Malo keeps the lights on! The Clone @CaptainDangerous will know the image posting limits.

In the meantime can you please only use one or the other? It’s nice to get to know people by thier tags/avatars and this will just confuse the Troll* just changing the avatar image has done this in the past!!

*that’s me just in case you’re not aware.

Aye, I tend to just use this one for posting but have been compiling model collections on the other for when I do finally get them all painted and had forgotten to swap back over before posting the thread.

That's what several more knowledgeable yakkers told me, hence me foolishly deleting a load of old pics before finding I couldn't replace them with the updates....

One day I too shall learn the trick of changing my avatar pic to non default to confuse the trolls, but that may take a while.....

Will stop being so tight now I'm in better job and sign up next month, as almost got my terrain collection up to photo worthy standard.

Would this mean I could delete off all the old wip mini' photos & replace or has that quota been used up as part of the 5gb already?

@Malo might be able to merge your accounts - who knows the ways of the Mighty Technomage!?!

He once gave me and @CaptainDangerous access to the next “level” but alas all we could see was the blinding light! Our tiny minds could not comprehend how the Mighty One moves the gears and pulls the levers! We are merely his lowly accolytes deemed worthy enough to do very menial tasks, for the love of the tribe!*

*Or so the Troll is told, Love!?! Meh hack spit!
