Thanks a lot, @Edster! I actually wasn't sure how to join the beams to the central pillar, until I thought "why not do it right?" My dad and little brother are both carpenters, so I've seen a few things of this sort. It isn't fitted perfectly, but it holds just fine, and is still a ruin, so... :giggle:

The tower totally makes me think of that one in Highlander!
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!
Oh yeah! I actually did (briefly) consider putting stone stairs along the inside, but thought I might be too pressed for time.
But weren't there stairs like that in Highlander? I seem to remember Sir Sean fighting on them at some point...

So that's a no to shamelessly copying it then?

The stairs in that highlander scene were great big chunky things that were stone all the way to the floor. If you want to add stairs later, I'd suggest adding wooden steps fixed into the central pillar you already have. That way you don't lose the space underneath.

Although given that it's an old ruin, an aged ladder in wood and/or rope would take up a minimum of floor space and hint at other adventurers who've gone before.

Part of why I opted out of the built in stairs, apart from time constraints, were so I had options of ladders and walkways in games. Fixed access points run the risk of feeling a little static, I find. So yes, aged ladders that aren't fixed in place will be the way. At least until I change my mind. ;)

During the latest comp I received an order from @Mad Robot, and had to really force myself to finish the comp piece before playing around with the new toys! Well, now the comp is over. Lord knows I've got a few unfinished projects floating around, but I just had to test my idea for an Enforcer.

I painted this guy over a couple of sessions. Not a complicated scheme, and I can probably be more efficient now I've got the colours and order of painting figured out. I'll adjust a few things, but this is pretty much the look I'm going for.
I wanted a sort of roving Enforcer squad, patrolling from town to town out in the less populated corners of the underhive. I know it's not strictly canon, but I'm picturing an amalgamation of a wandering/travelling judge from both the Dredd universe and the old west, patrolling from safe house to safe house and only staying longer in one location if needed.
C&C appreciated, as always. I might finish some other projects before tackling further enforcers, though.

Wow, over a month since I last finished something... I guess motivation tanked for a while there. But last night I painted these guys.
igrJk3Km.jpg

SvrMKIam.jpg

Not because I was terribly motivated, but they only needed eyes and details and I wanted them done so I could move on. First picture is a Totem Warrior and a Brave, painted from primer. The two Ratskins are touched up from old paintjobs, and as such are even more sloppy than usual. They fit well with the gang, but won't stand up to closer scrutiny.

I plan to do some fantasy next, so I might start a new thread in that sub-forum. The guys at vampirecounts.net are resurrecting the site, so the plan is to post progress both here and there, maybe finally finish up my VC army.

How appropriate. Is it a zombie or a skeleton?
It was apparently cast on Ultimate Power, and It's raised a bunch of old vampires already, so... Something dark is stirring for sure.

Thanks, @ClockworkOrange. Yeah, a few yakkers has been quiet for a while now, though I see (hear?) the Troll song has started wafting over the sump waters lately. There's also an upcoming Tribemeet, so there is a bit of a building urge to finish up those sump boats I've begun... Not that I'm going, but you gotta make a sump boat for when the flash floods hit!

I can see this place has been a little quiet the last month or so, while I've been posting in the Fantasy section. This post marks my return, with the start of yakcomp 39! I'll do a Frostgrave build, with some low ranking cultist in a ruined building/plaza used for worship of some demonic entity. That's the plan anyway, I'll dig through bits and see what comes up. Photos when that happens! *Terminator accent activated* I'll be back!

I rummaged through the old box, and came up with some bits.

They are all over the place, and as I don't have a body I like for this I'm going for greenstuff cloak over an armature of some sort. I wanted her to look a little "off" somehow -hence the different bits- where she looks fine at a glance, but odd bits like the goblin toes poking out under her robe. And the clawed hand holding a knife behind her back.

As for the terrain piece, I'm doing almost a riser kind of thing with some stone pillars spaced out that can be removed. I remember an encounter from Baldurs Gate, where if you go far east into the wilderness you come across some Red Wizards doing secret things on a large-ish platform. There will be a summoning circle drawn on it, as it will be a demon cult attempting to commune with their 'benefactor'. I'm thinking this piece will double as the museum floor in the Frostgrave scenario "The Living Museum", which suggests a 12"x12" floorplan. I prefer a rectangular shape for something like this, so might make it 9"x12" instead, or close to that.

Lots o' words... Be back with more pictures soon-ish. I've also been working on my Witch's warband, so might snap a few wip's of that as well.

Just a quick update, 'cause I thought it was kinda funny.
Apparently I decided to build the sweet girl from the bottom up! I've got a hunch it's not how you usually build armatures... But I was playing around with the positioning of her feet, and thought I might as well glue them to the base to keep them from scooting around. It just escalated from there, and I still managed to place her feet wrong! Oh well, will see how it goes.

I failed to finish anything for FYSC this time around, though I have a few models right on the edge. Taking more shifts at work has messed with my hobby mojo. I could have focused on the warband and waited with the comp, but here we are.:giggle: So a bit of a mix, but this is a Witch with her warband just missing eyes and some highlights, standing on my wip platform for yakcomp#39.
QGVcP9E.jpg

And this is the wip cultist for yakcomp#39, which will probably be used as a thief for my planned Summoner warband, once i get around to that...

Now, I should've listened to @Ben_S, because that robe -even though it isn't finished yet- doesn't cover as much of her foot as I thought it would. So I'll probably have to get in there with my knife and scrape off that poxy mold line. Oh well, not impossible.
I'm actually building up layers of greenstuff this time around, letting it cure before coming back with another layer, as opposed to just smashing a blob on there and trying to poke it into a desired shape. I think it is going ok so far. I feel such growth, as an artist and a person!;) That'll probably last until I get to her hand... Didn't have one I liked for this model, so will have to give it a go with sculpting one.
Hopefully more progress to follow soon.

Slow progress still, but I did smooth out some greenstuff and work a little on getting the terrain piece closer. But that's not why I'm here today! Scatterbrained you might call me, and you'd be right. Awful at time management would also fit. But I've been doing a little work on my Black Coach, so will show a few wip's. I'm actually doing it for a little competition over here on Carpe Noctem. The deadline was moved a week, and is now the Sunday six days from now,if anyone wanted to put a quick entry in. Very simple rules, theme is "Resurrection". Anyway, didn't manage to finish the Black Coach yet, but should do before the coming Sunday.
This is where I started some weeks ago now.
bk44yPK.jpg

Then it languished, as I threw myself at yakcomp #39 (see, time management issues...), but here is where we are, before tonights session.
h5v4IKYm.jpg

Now is when I give it a go, and paint bravely. Hoping for the best, will try and upload again tomorrow with the progress.

When I mentioned painting bravely last night, this is what I meant.
TRWCbVOm.jpg

It was kinda nervewracking taking that heavy white drybrush to the old coach, but that's how it went. I also did some work on grandpa in the casket, and as he is going in the back of the coach I doubt I'll do more painting on him.
7LzrfFqm.jpg

Tonight I did some green glazes and started on the base as well. This is as far as I got, because various glues and paints need to dry now, so calling it a night here. I should be able to finish this tomorrow, so I can get back to the comp.
Ne1An72m.jpg

The superglue left a white cloud on the horses backs, will have to correct that, but all in all happy with the progress. Hopefully the finnished Black Coach will stand ready tomorrow night. :giggle:

I posted pictures og the finished coach here, for anyone interested.
Back to yakcomp. Sculpting hands is hard! I can barely make out the details, so some magnifying would probably help... But I did a thing.
Not the best, think I'm going to call it a badly fitted glove... Anyway, I threw some paint on as well.
So far so good, though I can tell on the photos that my sculpting isn't all that smooth. Looks ok on the table, but I'll try and make the paintjob a little smoother. C&c appreciated. Got some ways to go on the terrain piece as well, will pick it up over the next couple of days.
