Last batch I bought was two seperate plastic tubes with blue and yellow in one each. It has lasted a good long while, because they weren't touching.
Never tried milliput, and haven't seen it anywhere either...

I use a fair bit of Milliput. Very cheap in the UK as its made locally. Its superior for gap-filling, but a bit soft for sculpting, so I mix it 50/50 with Greenstuff and then its perfect for sculpting most things.

The Greenstuff strips seem to be a lot cheaper by weight than the tubes, so I buy them, but obviously you have that bit in the middle you have to cut off.

Tried some stuff off Amazon called "Epoxy Sculpt". Supposedly a good alternative to the super-expensive Apoxie Sculpt you can get from the US. Turns out its crap. Like epoxy chewing gum. Don't bother.

I've been looking around for milliput, but can't seem to find any. Unless I place an order somewhere, of course. It seems I'll have to buy the strips, as I can't find any other kind of greenstuff either. Oh well, I guess buying locally has a purpose of its own.

Kind of funny, considering Denmark is closer to the Uk than Austria, you can get Milliput at most hobby shops here in Vienna.

On the other hand, all the GS you can get is either by GW or Army Painter, and both are the "two strips mashed together in a clamshell pack" kind.

I was listening to a podcast (Might've been "Hivescum" could've been "Necromacho") and one of the participants suggested using plumbers epoxy. Especially for large things. Apparently it hardens like rock.

I'll probably stick with greenstuff for sculpting a bit of hair, @Punktaku. But might look at that other thing some day. :giggle:
@SuboptimusPrime There's only one hobby shop in the closest city (Naestved, pop. ~15000), if I happened to have business in Copenhagen I could probably get all the things. But talking about it, I suddenly remember another hobby shop that opened recently, about 25 minutes away. I've been meaning to visit, this is a great excuse!

Never got around to visiting the other hobby shop, but got greenstuff, new brushes and a portable photo studio (lightbox) for fathers day! It's the "standard" strips of greenstuff, but hey, it'll do the job just the same. :giggle:
No more excuses, time to get on with the comp!:D

For hunting down milliput in an actual shop, it's worth trying hardware/plumbing places rather than hobby shops. Whilst milliput is used extensively by us hobbyists, its "real life" purpose is as a non-shrink plumber's sealing/repair putty.

I did some sculpting today. Man, new greenstuff is so much more workable than my 20 year old stuff! :D
It's pretty much ready for primer, apart from a bit more clutter on the base.
I went with an autogun from Mad Robot, and cut the stock off for even less additional "noise" on the model. Pretty happy with that, I hope I can paint it up decently well.

I don't recall seeing Milliput in model shops. I usually order it online.

(I have no idea how people did shopping before the internet. So often I have no idea where to go for something I want.)

Interesting to see more Greenstuff talk! I’ve just been fussing over mine, which is several years old now and clearly a bit stiffer than it should be! It is the standard blue/yellow touching type. It did set solid in the end. As solid as GS goes anyway.

What in think happens is over time the touching bits slowly set off the curing process in the whole strip.

Thing is, as alluded to with Milliput, Greenstuff is actually called Kneadatite and it is/was a plumbers putty and I suspect they expect it to be used up relatively quickly, so the join isn’t an issue there you just slice off a chunk and mix it.

You can buy it in two separate tubes of yellow and blue and there’s even a strip that doesn’t touch too.

Milliput actually mentions that it can be used for modelling on the box so they seem to know it often is! Also sets underwater.

Often with Yellow/grey Milliput the grey bit develops a brown crust, but you can cut that off and it’s grey underneath and works just fine.

Milliput also comes in a variety of colours now too. My local stockist has yellow/grey (standard), superfine white, terracotta, blue and black!

As mentioned, I have an old batch of the two tubes, no touching. And that has gone rather rigid by now as well, and very hard to mix, but it is probably around 20 years old at this point.
Plumbers might also not be as fussed that there is a few chunks of hardened putty in their mix, so the join is less of a hassle. Whereas it's very annoying and visible on a 28 mm scale model.

Yeah, I tend to snap the joined bit off before twisting the now separate colours together and then mixing them.

Although GSW isn’t everyone’s favourite place, it is one that carries the strips, with gap.

but it is probably around 20 years old at this point.
I’m pretty sure after a decade it just slowly degrades. Apparently you can keep it fresher in the freezer. I think mine was brought around 2014/15.

Fresh stuff seems to have a vegetable smell, old stuff… none at all really.

Given my infrequency of use, buying smaller amounts might be better.

I remember ordering my first Micro Mark catalog. It was so cool! I still have their precision nippers.
P.S. probably the best of their size until recently but they will ruin your fingers

Went camping with the family last week, came home again yesterday. So lots of unpacking and laundry, but I did sneak in a little hobby time this morning, and hopefully will again the coming days.
I went to a new hobby shop some weeks back, and got him to print up a not-Chimera for my Vostroyans. The black parts are fdm, the grey is resin.
I'm not totally sure if I should get more... I kinda want to go to a local makerspace and get some input, but they're out for the summer. It was DKK 120 at the hobby shop, but maybe the enthusiasts at the makerspace can get a better finish on the fdm parts.
Also, this morning I kitbashed a prototype veteran guardsman, I'm thinking counts as Tempestus Scion. Will do more tomorrow.

I kitbashed a 5 man squad of veteran guardsmen/ Tempestus Scions and primed them.
Tempestor with power fist and (holstered) plasma pistol, scions with plasma gun, volley gun and 2 hot shot lasguns.
To be fair, I really do like the official models, it's just a bit of a project to see how little I can spend on a full army of Imperial Guard. With all the leftover heads and arms, all I need is bodies to make more guardsmen, and I do have enough bodies to kitbash 10 more of these. The special weapons are running out, though...

I finished the veteran guardsmen.

I did mean to add something to the plasma coils, but then never thought about it, and didn't realise it until I posted this... I'll have to think about whether I want to rectify that. Maybe I didn't notice because I like it as is?
