Hi everyone.

First post for me! My son is wanting to put together a male Escher gang. Does anyone have any recommendations for what models to use? He's keen for a bit of kit bashing!

thanks!

Technically there is no male Escher neither in game or in lore. The one Exception is in the novel terminal overkill and got killed pretty quickly. The reason why he wants to play male Escher will be helpful. Is it for the pets? the finesse skill tree? The fast glass canon playstyle?

Because you can have a outcast or venator gang that can emulate escher fast glass canon style. If it's the pet use they are alternative pet common to all. the finesse skill tree is more tricky you can technically gain acces to it but it's difficult and unreliable.

All in all you can house rule anything if Escher games style is his thing and he don't want to play women you can.

Any model you can find that has a punk aesthetic will do. I’m guessing that’s probably what he likes but doesn’t want to play as girls?

Only problem is most punk models you find are likely to be metals…

Looking into Blood Bowl might be a good idea - get him to choose one he likes the look of and convert them into appropriately armed fighters. You can get punk haired heads from 3rd party bits suppliers if you want to (most likely in resin).

Another alternative would be to look at the classic metal range from early Necromunda - because almost all the weapons would be usable in a modern Escher gang and you can convert the rest.

Classic Delaque might be good as they don’t look anything like the modern ones and you could easily add hair! Plus Heresy Miniatures made a series of “Trenchcoat Gangers” who are identical to the classic Delaque in style which means between both ranges you’d have a massive choice of models to pick from.

Before the new release/models, Dark Eldar were commonly used for Escher conversions, so perhaps that could work.

That said, male (counts-as) Escher could look like just about whatever you want...

From what I remember from Necromunda 1995 men made up only 5% of the population, but they did exist. That would be a cool thing to explore.

I would agree that we need more info on why he wants to do this. If he likes the esher aesthetic then you could also look at wood elves as base minis. New esher include feathers in their costumes and bare chested slender guys abound.

But maybe looking at cyberpunk miniatures might also work.

Went through the lore and the Eschaki (the male/female pre-escher 'house of blades') could allow an inlore option to field 'chem-using' male escher
supposedly they died off, but there might be holdouts.

see house of blades p16: curse of the escher

I haven't looked up any models, but warcry had a few possibly great kits?

I used the Lord of Hubris from the hedonites of slaanesh range as the base for a rare un-weedy male Escher but you'd need a lot of cash and kits to make a gang from the odd male figures across the range.

Reiterating the question of why he want to play Escher to get to the answer of what models to use. Some options being:
  • He likes the style of the models. Action poses and mohawks. Or is he looking for tight pants and crop tops? (probably not) If not, is there a clothing/hair style he;s looking for?
  • He likes the style of the weapons. Elegant looking lasguns, needle guns, and stiletto blades, jet bikes, and the like.
  • He likes the lore of the House. To this end, would he be looking to do "lore correct" Escher males? Or is he looking to play exceptional specimens (average humans) or does he want to go really exceptional and muscular (like Goliath minis - or old Goliath minis for muscular but shorter)?
  • He likes the technical lore of the House. Poisons, chems, cat-like creatures.
  • Does he want to play this specifically as House Escher, a breakaway gang, or a 'counts as' to use the rules with male models?
  • Do you want to stick with pure GW models, or is everything on the table?
  • Do you want to stick with modern scaling? New Necromunda models are a good bit bigger than classic Necromunda minis.
Being that we're in today, and have a insanely vast availability of models to choose from compared to yesterday or 20 years ago, narrowing the focus would be helpful. If there's ANY group of people who could point you in the right direction, you're in the right place.
