Necromunda MusingWarboss' Modelling and Painting log (Currently: Finishing stragglers)

Sometimes flying bases are controversial and I’d rather not use them for things like the Orlock’s Wreckers but here… it’s ok.

I was thinking that. I think it's because it's so short that the base serves as a backdrop to it from almost any angle you'd be viewing it from.

The head reposition is a nice touch. (y)

I said I’d continue painting my pets for modern Necromunda… I lied!

I’ve actually painted a classic Goliath leader for the ORB-NCE edition!! And why not??

He shall be accompanying my classic Goliaths on the search for this mysterious crashed Hulk later in the year.

I’d like to thank @MancInventor for gifting me this awesome little dude a couple of years back. Hope you like him.

Right… back to my Bolt Action boys…

Just a quick update to add some pictures for my YakComp 57 entry:

Heavy Flamer Goliath!
In the modern game these are extraordinarily expensive to buy. I have the gun though. Plus it looks far too cool to not assemble it!!

So… yeah… I’ll find a way of getting him on the table at some point!

Did some gap filling but I’m wondering if my GreenStuff is getting very old now - the spare blob from this is taking longer to set than I’d have thought!!

I’ve not used much so I guess I could just paint over but if it’s not cured then I’d hate for the paint to come off!

So… just gonna see if it stiffens up over the next day or so. 😳

Could try Sprue glue for filling stuff like that, I find it quicker and easier, its useless mind If you want to sculpt detail.
I’m hoping it sets. I could glaze some sprite goo over it - which would in effect seal it down with a layer of plastic. I’ve seen people do that to paper to use as banners and cloth.

The pale grey parts are resin though, so I’m not sure if it would like that…

Hopefully it’ll be fine.

I have used some plastic putty in the smaller cracks (the white bits).

I've painted old green stuff that has refused to properly set several times (actually, most of the time as my current green stuff must be about ten years old by now)... I've never found an issue with the paint coming off. So you'll probably be fine, especially since it's just small gap fills.

Thanks chaps, it probably will be alright - I think the old GS is setting itself over time! That’s the problem with the conjoined yellow/blue strips. I’m not sure how long I’ve had it either - though I’m guessing it’s “years”.

I also can’t find my Milliput! 😫

That’s what I get for putting it away “somewhere safe“.

As a note, as I forgot to mention it on the picture post - I added a USMC bottle to him as a nod to my other project! Though to a Goliath it’s more like a hip flask! 😂

Putty has cured, primer has been applied and paint has started to be applied!!

It’s at that point in the process where it all just looks a bit cack. The last modern Goliaths I painted was probably around 2021. I know I did a few iterations of how I painted the orange back then, getting speedier each time - this time I’m adding Magmadroth Flame Orange contrast - which is a damn good clone of the old Army Painter Lava Orange!!

Thing is, once the base coats are down hopefully it should start to look nicer - then once the shading/highlights go on, let alone details, at some point it all just comes together and works! It’s just the struggle of getting there! 😂

Yes, I’ve added an extra model to the queue - that’s Makita - she is the middle(wo)man that delivers the stimms to the Goliath. She’s spent so long with them she’s found herself liking the lifestyle and has effectively gained respect from the Goliaths by bulking herself up and adopting their gang colours - even thought the cut of her clothes still harks to her Escher origin.

These days she’s more likely to be joining them in battle than her former House and has even been granted access to one of their Plasma/Stubgun combi pistols.

Rules wise: HOI introduced Genesmithing and the concept of the “Unborn”, those being people from outside the House of Iron who have converted to the House.

Which is a long way of saying I’m adding her into the Hot Hot Hot 🔥 comp entry too! 😁

(I had already come up with this concept years ago though - hence the model existing and I’d quite like to get her painted up!)

I’m painting Goliaths I assure you! Not sure why I seem to have gravitated back to them but here we are!

Still got to get on with my Bolt Action boys but as always the hobby butterfly directed my attention to a potential project for this years YakMeet.

Well, I was going to use my tank or build a speedy thing but then I read the latest rules and realised it might be a good idea to be able to transport the whole gang…

Anyway, saw this in the Supermarket…

Back with more-ish progress! I had forgotten quite how much work these were!!

So I’ve now got the base Orange down and a bit of the white. Tried starting the orange highlighting but for some reason I’ve forgotten quite how it did it last time. I know the colours just not the exact process. I’ll work it out it just isn’t quite as zingy yet.

Comp 57 - Feeling Hot Hot Hot 🔥

Entry finished!!

As always my photos are a bit crappy, one day I’ll get better at them.

Some individual shots:

And now a nice collage of a rough 360° of them.

EDIT:
I did a few more photos using some cork backdrop and included my recently painted Classic Goliath Leader too.

Is Makita from Chyna?
Japan. 🇯🇵

Or she’s descended from people from Japan 40,000 years from now anyway.

I think the Dark Eldar face is very Anime looking, so it fits nicely with my theme of Goliaths having tool company or industrial sounding names.

More of a WWE joke... but you did very well, the paintjobs are great and the final models are good.

No worries, giant woman with a manish face. Kinda sad life but that's a whole other thing.
