YakComp 58 - I’m afraid of no Ghost
So, I had an idea ages ago to make my own version of the Beast thing that came in the Necromunda box. The tentacle is… ok but lacking in effort from them.
So as I had an idea to make an Undead army over a decade ago I had picked up bits and pieces, one of which was the plastic Banshee kit. Awesome kit, very nice.
As I’m not doing that project though it’s sat idle for years in my bits box - so what better than to turn it into a wandering monster in Necromunda!! Or just use it to replace the tentacle.
So yeah, Escher that baby up! Except… after I suggested this topic for the next comp - and it was picked - my mind keeps telling me to do something spookier… more haunted.
What could be better than a haunted object!! How the hell do you do that though?? Well… enter Vigo… from Ghostbusters 2.
Y’ know, the creepy painting that possesses people and has rivers of pink slime running under it. Yeah. Let’s do that! Necromunda style.
I can’t just use Vigo though, that’s a bit of a copout. No, let’s follow up on the Banshee idea and make Vigo… a
woman!!

(Hollywood would approve)
Now I’m not a classical artist, I could have a stab at it but as we’re living in the end of the first quarter of the 21st Century let’s use that much feared technology - AI - to help mock up something that looks a bit like a cross between a GW Escher and Vigo. So it has to have the essence of Vigo (the pose) but look more female.
So I did some prompting of Grok and it offered up an image, then I kept promoting it to change bits until it started to look much better. Then it went too sci-fi so I chose my favourite one and modified that!
Here’s the first batch of Vigo, or rather
Veera. That’s her name now.
Second to last was my favourite, looks right and is obviously female. Let’s prod it again to go more Escher.
Well… the yellow cape messes it up. Plus it started to look like a drag artist (which I’m sure Hollywood would further approve of but it’s not what I wanted).
My favourites here… bottom left and bottom centre.
So I merged them and created a youthful Veera with a cape.
So that’s it. That’s the basis of my haunted painting. Obviously I’m not going to leave it there - this is just prototyping, getting a good base image for me to attempt (gulp) to actually paint a version of.
Guess those sponges will be getting used to do the background!!
But I’m not leaving it there… no no no… I’m clearly insane. The painting is just the object - I’ve got some nighthaunt ghosts to add around it and goodness know what else to turn it into…
An Escher Gang Relic/Shrine.
