so who is excited to see what GW do with the new Necromunda Roleplay game. Its a big venture because previously GW have outsourced all their roleplay games in the 40k universe. I have played some of these (Dark Heresy & Rogue Trader), but zi think starting in the Necromunda setting is an excellent first step.

I hope it will bring the setting alive in new ways, that will transend just the roleplay.

It reminds me of Inquisitor, but this time they've sensibly used the scale we already have models and scenery for!
Hopefully the rules will be a bit tidier than Inquisitor was and hopefully there'll be crossover with releases so any new models can be used in either system with ease.

I must say I quite liked the idea of highly detailed 54mm miniatures, preferably with actual design to allow weapon and equipment swapping to have a really unique cool character as a visual aid in your roleplaying.

Not sure why people seem almost afraid of differing scales for wargaming, the 28-32mm range is a good standard for a fair few games but for much larger model counts, smaller scale makes more sense and for smaller model counts a larger scale is better.

However… in this new game it makes perfect sense to just stick to the existing scale established for Necromunda so the models and scenery become cross compatible.

i er... found a source with scans of all the og inquisitor models if that's relevant
I like the artwork, but I'm a bit less impressed with the models in the box

54mm scenery was and is a huge ask, especially if you want any sort of variety and aren't content playing on a "set" board arrangement.

Depends… all scenery is a fairly big project, particularly if you want lots of it. It also has a huge storage cost too.

I think it also depends on how you interact with the miniatures; if you’re doing most of the roleplaying in your mind then it’s not really an issue. If the miniature is just your avatar that you have in front of you, occasionally dropping it into an environment in front of you… not so much of an issue either.

I guess it depends on how you roleplay. You don’t need miniatures at all for some and others feel the need to have them everywhere.

I’d think requiring your GM to have numerous detailed environments covering an entire world would be a pretty big ask no matter what scale.

I've been involved in the various 40KRP games since the old Black Industry days of Dark Heresy, so I'm a pretty easy mark for the new NRP.

Judging from the character sheet they put in the preview, it looks very similar to the early Dark Heresy editions, with a couple Necromunda Skirmish mechanics thrown in for good measure.

I'm sure I can work with the "new" system.

Though I'm quite curious what Cubicle 7 thinks about this development...

I dont think its dead. Youtubes are jumping to conclusions that is an license issue with C7 the current 3rd party company that makes roleplaying games for GW. People are believing GW gave C7 an exclusivity deal to make RPGs and that GW producing one on their own violated that contract. That is, of course a wild rumor given that so much of the Necromunda RPG that was revealed showed an almost complete product, meaning its been in production for a while. They wouldnt have produced something knowing it can get them in legal trouble that breached a contract. The idea of GW giving out an exclusivity license to anyone is also a crazy rumor, given how protective they are of the IP. Yesterday, C7 on Facebook announced something regarding their games and someone asked if C7 had any involvement with the necromunda RPG, C7 responded saying they are not involved, hope to play it soon, and to watch for WarCom.

I believe, that the article was removed entirely because they promised something they can't fulfill either with the launch of the product or a future promise. Its also likely they revealed too much and just want to scrub it, rather that redact and update the existing article. Its that or Warcom are dumb.

I've worked for a company that got within two weeks of launching their new product before someone not directly involved with it pointed out that it was illegal to sell. Frantic checking ensued followed by a cancelled product and a couple of hundred thousand pounds wasted. I also wouldn't be at all surprised to find a company accidentally breaching a contract - I've seen that several times.

Companies definitely make this kind of screw up, even ones with legal teams on staff.

that sounds credible,
it could also be something like 'the books get printed in china and they're not sure they would arrive in time'
Indeed. I wrote elsewhere on here that not so long ago they recalled the Enforcers weapons upgrade kit because of either a: box art error showing a gun not included, b: contaminated plastic. I had read both so could have been either.

This *may* have had a similar issue, where they printed up the paper stock but a QC check revealed an error (missing pages, printed upside down, something similar - obviously not rules errors we know they’ll happily print those and sell them 😉)

OR it could be a plastic related issue, poor tooling, missing part etc.

OR it could be a licensing issue, though I feel that is a convenient excuse. Their post is still up on Instagram BTW.

I have that weapon box (the original, canceled version)...
I'm pretty sure it was because the box art included a bolt pistol, but the kit didn't include one (in that case)

likely something banal like they shared too much info too early and the box will only release at the end of the 'season'
now they can hype it twice :p

Even if there were some legal issue, I don't think it's "dead."

It's clearly very far along and getting very close. GW will find a way to get it to market.

The question is really how long it will take them to overcome whatever issue they had. Something vaguely similar happened to one of the books from the Adeptus Titanicus line, and it took them about 4-6 months to get it fixed.
