Why was Valois a hunted man, again?

He didn't fill out the correct forms and kept exceeding his resurrection quota even after the third written warning. You can mess with the powers of life and death all you want, but you do not mess with the Adeptus Administratum more than once.

So I wonder if

- matriarchs are the Escher house agents
- death maidens are the specialist champs

Or

- matriarchs are the specialist champs
- death maidens are the Escher house agents

More likely Matriarchs are the new name for leaders.

New sculpts look nice. This is the kind of thing I was hoping for from a Champions kit. I.e. new poses and weapons, not corpse girls and skinks.

Don't like the fluff for the detective though (Great model). Nulls are supposed to be extremely rare and are often recruited by the Inquisition. To find one in local law enforcement seems unlikely.

"Escher Champions, or Matriarchs as they call ’em" is the exact quote from Warhammer Community, so it is pretty safe to assume that Matriarchs is the new name for regular Escher champions

Man I'm super disappointed with these! The vibe, new minis, everything. Nothing screams vicious punk ladies dealing plasma and toxin death and the feel is more fantasy than anything. Undead Escher, snarf cats, generic elf-like hunters - it's all so weirdly bolted on. Really, what are the bow girls doing there? Not even going to start on the zombies. Bah!

Eh, a bit disappointed with this release. Especially the death maidens are going to call for some kit-bashing...

I think it's scale, we've had quite narrow windows into the setting for almost all its history. But now we find more and more granular expansion of the worlds of 40k - every hive world will be as complex, as deep, as multifaceted as necromunda, every world as deep as earth or more. As the setting expands, suggestions of the scale of what rarity is expand and become more nuanced.

Say there are 10 nulls in the palanite enforcers, a cadre of millions of officers across a world of maybe 20-40 billion people. 10 people on a world of (say) 20-40 billion people is still infinestimally rare. Maybe there is a total of 100 living nulls on world at any given time, again still a tiny fraction. Maybe 1000. It still suggests a tiny tiny amount - and indeed a massive sense of rarity.

Which again heads toward special characters and how speial are they supposed to be?
"Special character? But my Escher gang has two, fighting against another Escher gang that has three. What do you mean 'special'?"

Well, I like the bodies of the death maidens, though their heads and weapons will be swapped... and the prospects here look very cool. So far, no sumping from me. :) Gonna have to get at least 1 box of these. The cats I can take it leave, last thing we needed was some MORE cat rules. (I know, close to it)

The underworlds warband is pretty nice, though there's something a bit off about leaping girl at the bottom left. I think it's the bikini. I could see "come at me bro" at the bottom right being an Escher CC specialist with a little tinkering though. Top right too... if she wasn't perched on a f****** tree  I mean seriously, easy fix but what does the tree add to that model?

When squatting in the woods most people go behind the tree not on the tree.
I think without it she might look a bit to squatting down for a ****.

Also the angle of the wrist holding the goblet caught my eye. Just not quite right. But that might just be me.
