New models incoming

GW: If we sell the minis separately, customers won't be forced to buy an entire boxed game that they don't actually want.
Us: But wouldn't selling the minis separately generate more sales than an unwanted boxed game?
GW: Bloody peasant! How dare you question our divine wisdom!!!

Well they did do the bad guys as MTO... Was hoping they'd do the same with the heroes, but I guess this is why.

They were around early to mid '90s when I was in college. The little toy store I worked at that also sold Warhammer carried them for a time, but they were too expensive for most of our customers. Google reminds me they were based in Ohio and also had a 40k magazine called Inquisitor. I've always thought they were GW's inspiration for Forgeworld.

Edit-or California, I may have failed my Google check today. There is currently an Armorcast that makes scifi mini terrain that may or may not be the same company.

There are a number of Youtube videos discussing Armorcast, but I've found Snipe and Wib's to be the best ATM:

In the comments section, I found something depressing from Ian Burns:

used to know a guy who owned a Ork Great Gargant. He was an amazing 40k player and a friend. He sadly passed and his family tossed his 40k models. I just imagine that Mork(Or Gork) took that Great Gargant to the great WAAAAGH in the sky.
I did, his friends did, 40k wasn't just a hobby for him. We tried explaining it, but his Mother said we had no right to tell her what to do and just went ahead and trashed his entire collection. Something like 15k of Eldar, 25k of Guard, and I think 20k of Space Marines. All 1st, 2nd and early 3rd ed stuff.

That was really informative and seems to fill in the puzzle pieces. I knew about Armorcast, and still have some Epicast terrain pieces, but I'd never heard of the US based Forgeworld company.

Yeah, my mistake. The original falcon looked like this.
Damn, that's fugly! Reminds me of the only grav tank I got from FW: the scorpion  Looks neat! Guns were badly bent of course (hot water did the trick).

Wait…. Isn’t that our own @timdp they mention in there (while butchering his name)?

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

If it's the same guy, they also gave him an old timey duelin' Southerner accent from Looney Toons! I guess anyone with a French sounding surname and a cowboy hat talks like Foghorn Leghorn.

Speaking of Armorcast, in an old issue of mid 1990s Dragon Magazine's miniatures section, the column writer mentions selling a Cannon of Khorne to a teen at a convention, who with an upset look ended up returning it, as the GW reps (freelancers?) at the table/booth only allowed official models. The columnist ended up having a word with the GW booth people and the rest of the article turned into a rant about how their attitude wasn't good for the hobby. Always wanted a Cannon of Khorne, but not paying the $100+ price it goes for nowadays... :(

A Cannon of Khorne was $30 back in the day...

Surprised my Helga Clovenhorn arrived at my local GW for pick up, as I wasn't expecting her til January at the earliest. The assembly instructions in the booklet are in color, but her stats are missing, instead it's just for a unit of Chaos Warriors - a mistake? Considering what they're charging per figure, can't they include a textured base?😠

I always assumed she's suppposed to be a fancy-looking aspiring champion, i.e. Chaos Warrior Sergeant.

The special edition plastic Sister Superior is just that, a sister superior with boltgun.

Why yes, yes it is. The Snipe and Wib vid is pretty good. There are a few things that are not right but over all it works.

GW's Forge World never made a Tempest because Eldar vehicle design had moved on to the style of the new plastic Falcon. Forge world did make multiple versions of the Scorpion, which is an updated Tempest. Scorpion Type II version is still available on Forge World's web site: https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Eldar-Scorpion-Type-II-Heavy-Grav-Tank-2018

The CCM wiki is also a very good source: https://www.collecting-citadel-mini...t5nuFxiP5S3mUrTiD9b3bdYzT3g4w4XhUR23yO5hlR9eE

For Cronevald, Yes Armorcast and Inquisitor were in California until I sold Armorcast to the current Ohio owners in 2007.

Inquisitor died when 3rd edition 40K came out. No one in our group liked it so we quit playing and that ended Inquisitor.

In Warhammer World there is apparently the Forgeworld Orlocks Champions and Gangers with new arms as a Warhammer World Exclusive model. You can find a picture at "Garro30k" or "r/necromunda".

It's a shame, I could have liked them too, but unfortunately out of reach for me.
