New models incoming

I knew about starship troopers and 2000 AD. Not so much Foundation. I'd read all Asimov's Robot series over the years but not Foundation series, think because I started it as a kid and quit early on.

I'm quite enjoying reading various classic sci-fi novels atm. Dune (the Novel) is on my list, probably fairly soon before I watch the new movie.

Sure but with the sentinel they're not even hiding their workings...
Not sure they hid much with Aliens>Genestealers Tbf

And even earlier 40k/Rogue Trader was very much Mad Max in Spaaaace.

The foundation of the 40k verse is a good crop of classic sci-fi, just now they have lawyers encouraging them to make everything unique enough to trademark, hence the silly names for everything. And Primaris marines.

Mmm, getting close. I'll get one or two even if they aren't fun in game. Nice thematics on a table and look like good line of sight blockers.
Also, holly inflation batman. It's almost as bad as real inflation. Over a 1000 credits to build out one of these rigs. What missions pay that well in a 6 game cycle?

Cargo 8 Preview

I'm suprised at how un-dynamic the gunners look for GW models, they're usually all about the dynamicosity these days, not "I am going to stand here like a wooden post with my arms locked out in front like a mannequin, and fire my stubber. Mmmm, dakka dakka fun."

The fact that they are three identical scuplts in exactly the same pose painted the same doesn't help the look.

Maybe they are all lobotomised meat popsicles?
You cannot steal the cargo if your legs and much of your motor cortex no longer functions!

"The Cargo-8 is the tip of a very large iceberg of vehicular carnage bearing down on Necromunda. The Book of the Outlands will be out soon, with comprehensive rules for vehicles of all shapes and sizes.** The Ridgehauler is also on its way, alongside separate cargo trailers and weapon packs."

Slightly confused here by "the ridge hauler is also on its way". I thought cargo 8 = ridge hauler? Or are they saying we have to buy cabs and cargo trailers separately?

I thought this was the one ash waste model I was going to get. But if it's to pricey I may stay in hive.

On second thoughts if you can buy it piecemeal it might be easier to add to over time.

The upgrade list of bolt-on attachments makes me think they are adding a lot more moving parts to the already over-burdened rules. Options are nice but too many options can really bog the game down. I've played a couple of games using the terrain special rules from the Book of Peril and it became very obvious that using only a couple per game would really speed things up. I'm beginning to get the same impression from the Ash Wastes previews.

Re IP.
game company making games based on fantasy and sci fi tropes tries to sue other game companies for doing the same thing. Found out they didn't own tropes. Continued making trope based stuff but gave it stupid names. Not actually avoiding their original problem.

Re sentinel. I liked the old plastic sentinels. Have a few of them. I like these too. They look similar enough that having them side by side wouldn't look strange. It's kind of like the new Ork deffkopters. Same design but a little less angular. They look good next to the old ones although the bases don't match. I may have to invest in oval cavalry bases to make my kopters all match. One complaint is the new method of making the base terrain connect up with the flying object was interesting at first but with the deffkopters it looks like they are dragging along a bunch of debris.

Re the new creed. Well she looks like what you'd expect a female general of the imperial guard would look like. Tough as nails and seen some shit.

Re the rules for the road train. Sounds interesting. 25 hull points sounds pretty difficult to deal although they did say you get to roll damage with a one shot even if you haven't reduced the hull points to 0. perhaps you can still get it damaged enough. I wonder if the cargo gives you in game bonuses or determines the credits the winning gang gets or a bit of both.

I'm looking forward to the vehicle expansion rules. I expect we'll see rules for the low-key imperial vehicles in there such as the genestealer range and the simpler imperial guard stuff, (the tauruses? The sentinel? Trying to think of low-key guard stuff)

Personally, I don't think the sentinel really fits Necromunda, but who knows what they will do - especially if they have a new kit to sell...

26 hull points maximum - 6 for the hauler itself and up to 4 trailers with 5 points each. Presumably just target the hauler and once it's immobilised, rob it?

What would make it better is if they brought back the powerlifter variant as part of the industrial background theme of Necromunda, though that might intrude on the domain of servo-rigs and ogryn servitors.

I have 2 of the old ones built out to sub assemblies but I've given them servitor drivers and I'm attaching some 3d printed industrial gear to turn them into forklifts. I could see military ones guarding the ash gates but that's about it.
