I just noticed why I dislike the head with the beard. The shaved sides of the hair look out of place in a medieval style setting. It looks more like a modern hipster haircut.

That’s probably down to the age of the sculptors.

A lot of the classic sculptors did haircuts and styles of the late 70s, the 80s or the 90s.
