New models incoming

Some oldies coming to Made To Order. Some of them for the second (third?) time.

I've always liked the terminator Wolfie in the middle, don't think I'll bother though.

I might pick up the servitors and Artemis. Maybe. I can't get past how expensive they are now; I keep remembering that 6 white metal pit slaves cost £20 twenty-odd years ago... Inflation and depreciation can't have devalued GBP that much!?

The forge world wyrr and cephalopods looks great, but £46?

I feel like the various guild boxes weren't that much more expensive not so long ago (haven't checked current price) and those have 4+ human size models.

Warrior Acolyte is a wonderful model and those transfers aren't bad... if GW didn't demand payment up front for that sort of thing I'd be more interested (considering the time involved).

Is that Inquisition preacher with the flaming tiki torch staff wearing an oven mitt? If he is, that's a wonderfully done little detail! Nice model, but don't think I'll bite because of the price.

Yes he is. I have a resin re-cast of that figure. He'd make a perfect member of my Fire Guild except that he'd be much shorter than the rest since they are kitbashed from Delaque bodies. So... I trying to conceptualize how to kitbash my own version of him... and the oven mitt is proving to be a problem.

Enforcer Tauros Venator confirmed
So… exactly the sort of vehicle we all expected Ash Wastes to get, except they didn’t - but now they will but it’ll only be for Palanites.

Sounds 100% GW.

There’s lots there to like, though much like the last time I was excited to see a few old classics, I imagine the price will make getting one off eBay look like bargain prices.

Also… I literally brought the Inqusition brazier and book guy in metal at Warhammer World last year!! He’s currently in the painting queue. Can’t remember the price I paid for him but as I brought him, it couldn’t have been too eye watering. 🤣

Was going to use him as a Hive preacher. Or whatever.

The last Wyrd sets have been that, the Beastmaster ones.

It’s a lot of money for what you get. Particularly if you don’t want half of them.

Catcher mitt from blood bowl.

Servitors:
Two for 20 Euros.

I have three Techmarines and four servitors. So the initial reasoning was to buy an entourage for the other two without tech support as well. This would mean 80 Euros.

In 2nd & 3rd 40K Techmarines were on their own to repair equipment. With 4th 40K GW decided to accompany them with servitors and decreasing the Techmarine´s innate ability to repair mechanical units on their own. Without repair servitors a Techmarine wouldn´t be able to fulfill his task.

Pondering the price and the devaluation of the Techmarine I have decided for myself to not condone the fabricated necessity of bringing servitors along and this comes from an Iron Hands player. Such a business decision couldn´t be deemed as...efficient. To be more frank I would feel like a sucker to hand over that amount of money for old models who are not deemed as being iconic.

In addition Legions Imperialis will be released soon and I will be going all in on that one as my nostalgia of 90s Epic is skyrocketing. So all bucks which are not desperately needed for other projects are welcome to be spent on these micro warriors. Therefore I say "NO" to this round of made to order.

Greenstuff? Mould around the hand, or roll out a small sheet, cut out the shape of the mitt, score as appropriate and use in place of the hand (maybe make two pieces and mould around a small form to get the shape less flat)?

My greenstuff-fu is pitifully weak but since it's an oven mitt and is supposed to look clunky, I might be able to manage it. Another project to sit on the back burner, waiting for me to get around to it.

Depends on your viewpoint on old models and their value, or "iconicness", I guess. I like them as they'd fit with one rules version of the pit slaves, where they can have a servitor, and they fit aesthetically with my generally older models.
Was interested in picking up some more old skool servitors for my tech gang.. but not at those prices. eBay or the nice Chinese man will continue to get my "oldhammer" money.
I've actually had a look on eBay, and single servitors are going for £10+ (closer to £20 each than I'd like), so this time GW are actually reasonable value - assuming you're also looking for servitors without the heavy weapons as well. If you just want the heavy weapons servitors, then I'd agree you'd get better bang for your buck on eBay.

I don't have a nice Chinese contact for comparison, but doubtless everything would be cheaper from the nice Chinese man.

I’m not sure when these models were last on sale but I feel it was relatively recently.

As I said, Inqusition guy was available to buy last year in their WHW store. Pretty sure Finecast style resin Space Wolves were there the last couple of years or so (I got a Ragnar a while back) and most were online a few years back anyway.

The servitors were bundled with a tech Marine/priest etc. in a box set which was available in actual FLGS too not so long back.

None of these feel like they’ve been away more than 3 years. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Heck, a few might even still be out there in the wild, still in box with a thin layer of dust on in an FLGS near you!!

New Fulgrim model:

Sit down before you read how much he costs...
53 resin pieces and he’s on a 100mm base.

There’s your issues right there!!

Like a lot of those ForgeWorld models, they’re display pieces not gaming pieces. Fulgrim would have a “rapid disassembly” if it was taken to gaming nights often. Given its resin and its design, is probably gonna snap all over the place.

Another one best used at home and carefully. If you bother using it at all.
