New models incoming

Yes, I too have the original Heroquest. Otherwise I’d be all over that - particularly at a decent price off!

This looks like it might interest Mordheim fans...

Besides the fish, there's also a hand-puppet and what looks like a flagellant-style sign hung round neck.
I saw those previewed - they look great!

The sprue has a lot of options on there and it still makes me a little sad that there is still no equivalent for Necromunda (yet). Closest we have are the Forgeworld Resin hangers on and a few 3D printed ones.

As long as those exist I doubt we will ever see any civilians from GW.

I was wondering what the feasibility might be on converting these from Wargames Atlantic to be a bit more SciFi??

If only they’d do a similar set with a more SciFi look. There’s a possibility they will, they seem prepared to make high quality plastic sprues of all sorts of random things - which is refreshing really, as no-one else is.

I know there’s Stargrave kits and the like but they’re still mostly fighters, not like this fantasy set which has regular people in.

Given the GW look for Necormunda civilians in most of the artwork over the decades is rather "Bretonnian peasant with some SF greeblies," they really should be quite able to convert in. Especially if it is true that
They can also carry a variety of different small items because of their empty hand arms
According to Beasts of War, at least. "Cityfolk // Guards Of Traitor's Toll
This is another of the multi-part plastic kits from Wargames Atlantic where a frame will consist of three male and three female bodies. They will have a variety of capes, aprons, scarves and sashes which can change their look to make different types of Cityfolk.
They can also carry a variety of different small items because of their empty hand arms as well as fish, cleavers, flowers, sickles, owls and more. It's a great option for those wanting to make varied NPCs for your games. Plus, you can use all the bits on your market stalls as well!"

I don't know whether it's in the pipeline, but it's definitely possible. Although it seems these are part of a collaboration of some kind, rather than something they've decided to do for themselves.

The Stargrave crew kits can make decent civilians, especially if you don't mind the odd pistol. If you're looking to use them in the Underhive, then I imagine most people would be carrying a weapon anyway.

There's an option on the sprue to have a model with two balls of fire rising from her hands - should anyone want an old school Pyromaniac.

@Ben_S a good kitbashing session and I think most of these could be enhanced to become more SciFi - giving them a pistol or whatever is fine but I'd like some civilian who look like they're doing something, shopkeeper, medic, engineer etc.

Don't know if these are 100% new but there's some Bolt Action Germans up for pre-order at Warlord Games:

The fallschirmjager starter set looks particularly good value to me. A Stug III assault gun, PSW 221/222 armoured car, Pak 40 anti tank gun, 2 mmgs, a mortar, a panzerschreck, a sniper team, officers and 36 infantry all for £104 RRP.

The other set is not as good value with less infantry and no anti tank gun for the same price.

There's also US winter troops:

They might work as a base for for Delaque proxies.

https://www.warhammer-community.com...-new-nomads-rule-the-dunes-of-the-ash-wastes/

So, GW actually gave Nomads the 'House of' treatment like the Squats.
They'll get a full 'Codex' with 'Nomad exlusive mechanic/sub factions', Specialist gangers/champs+Exotic beasts kit and even a plastic Weapons upgrade kit; the only thing missing would be an actual Transport vehicle/giant bug, but I guess they do already have Helamite riders and a Mounted specialist champ in the Storm caller, which is a 'fuller roster' than some clan Houses (Delaques crying forgotten in a corner).

I quite like these releases, but if they were going to give Ash waste denizens this much focus, couldn't they release the Squat and Nomads books before going into Hive secundus? This makes Hive Secundus feel 'out of place' in the schedule, like it was 'squeezed-in' out of order, making squats and nomads wait an extra 9-12 months to get fully fleshed out, while at the same time the House clans simmer waiting for their '2nd specialists' box like the Van saar Tech-hunters, if they will ever come out...

That said, we got more than I expected for this reveal :)

I’m curious what the Corpse Grinders might get, and what the exclusive mechanic would be. Different slaughterhouse specialities? Cred bonuses to the Hot Dog slaughterhouse for causing male groin injuries perhaps?
Probably be elaborate mask mechanics, but one can hope.

Finally the Old World High Elves have been revealed. It's mostly the same sculpts from the 7th and 8th edition releases, so all good plastic versions, despite the oversized hats on the phoenix guard, and thankfully includes the Isle of Blood only models.

Disappointed they haven't taken the opportunity to resculpt those ancient archer and spear models and there is no sign of the Silver Helms.

Hopefully the prices won't be too egregious as there are several of these kits I'd like to get to finish off my collection and replace my badly damaged Dragon Mage model.

Looks like I'll need to make a trip to my parents attic to dig out the unfinished stuff stored there (including mint in sealed box Dragon Princes and a Phoenix).

Mmm. Liking that new Bray-Shaman mini as well.

More bray! More bray! Let the Krampus rampage across the old world....

Are some of them actually the IoB models?

I only skimmed, but I thought it suggested some (the Reavers?) were actually new models, in the style of IoB. But maybe some of the others (Swordmasters?) are the same.

Are they doing the old archer kit? If so, I missed that. Or are you just referring to the bow and quiver option with the spearmen?

I used to find that old archer kit great for conversions, though there are probably better options these days.

The old archer and spears are in the battalion box.

The lothern sea guard and swordmasters look like they are the Isle of blood models without any changes from what I can see (maybe with a different command option for the swordmasters, I don't remember if there were different options). The old reavers didn't have a full command section so they've definitely added that. How much the rest have been changed is hard to say from the photos.

Oh and there are Silver Helms, I missed them before, looks like it's the old 6th edition sculpts.

Fairly sure there's been little second wave bits for things like that, haven't there? (Like didn't the Miners kit and something else - cannon & organ gun? - come a good bit later for the Mountain Holds?)
Not sure what you're referencing but no 2nd wave of bits is going to fix those ham fisted tree trunk wielders.

Fair, I wasn't clear: I meant the Silver Helms may be part of the second wave release.

For resculpts: I'd taken the plastic tweaks/resculpts as being (more or less) totally off the table, given the Khemri skeleton infantry have the horrid spine join, I understand, and that was ultimately untouched with the rereleased.

A lot of them look like they *could* be updated relatively easily, but then I guess that betrays my woeful ignorance of how much work goes into to gearing up a plastic sprue these days. Ah well.

As you said, someone's STLs might do the trick re: the high elf archers.

I think a lot of the reason for The Old World existing is that plastic injection moulding dies can last a very long time, and GW still had the old ones in some storage somewhere.

This is all founded on my second-hand knowledge of injection moulding dies for machine parts, which was what my mother worked with her whole career as an engineer, so maybe I'm talking out of my exhaust port here.
