New MDF Incoming perhaps?? Anyway I thought it was pretty cool so I’m sharing it.

It seems that TT Combat have done a Kickstarter to make pre-painted… err, printed(?) terrain much as as few others have. Its called the Chroma terrain.

However it’s coming out in the last quarter of this year as a general release. This one is called the Wonderhive and is clearly aimed at the Necromunda market.

I think that actually looks pretty good, plus there’s a fair bit of it. We’ll have to see what price point it’s at and if the amount is as generous as on the KS here. Being TTC though, they’re usually on the better end of pricing!!

Well, annoyingly I’ve recently got myself some regular MDF to add my existing MDF - even so, if this is a reasonable price I’d be tempted to add it to my collection just to boost the amount!

I'm not a big fan of the printed MDF I've seen. I think you might as well go with printed cardboard (unless needing more strength).

I think MDF benefits from adding extra texture and stuff. (YMMV of course.)

It's looks good. Helps fix some of the issues I usually have with MDF terrain.

I do still like the old combo of printed card and plastic parts to add the detail, especially around things like ladders.

@Ben_S Indeed, MDF does benefit hugely from just a few more hours/days of adding incidental detail (depending on how mad you’re going).

Some models are better designed than others though - you can get very basic MDF boxes and platforms and then there’s the ones that slot together in multiple layers and look rather good as is.

What I like about MDF for Necromunda is that it is robust enough to withstand being left assembled and is also practical to play upon - the flatness the surface is great for not giving wobbly model syndrome, particularly when a metal model is 15” up in the air on it.

I think this pre-printed MDF (while not new I first saw some a looong time back on MiniWarGaming) is a good middle point on the Venn diagram between plain MDF, Printed Card and Plastic/Resin terrain.

If someone wants something sturdy, looks good with nice imagery, practical to play on and no real work other than initial assembly the this is perfect.

Of course, it’s not for everyone but for those who it works for are going to get some nice looking terrain to play on.

Would benefit from printing on both sides to open up more design possibilities. I think they solved it by doubling some protruding parts to get the prints on both sides. It brings added cost no doubt so it looks like it wasn't woth it. Alternatively, have a different print on the flip side to give a choice between 2 themes.

While I usually avoid this kind of thing, the necromancer in the AoS diorama piece would make a great Karloth Valois (suitably trimmed away from the excess and properly based).

Shame the only way to get him is a subscription service I have no interest in.

Not quite new, in fact not at all! However under the news that new Enforcer models are coming out soon there was news that the next Made to Order will be some classic Space Wolves - all in metal!!

This includes the solid metal brick that is Bjorn the Fell-handed!!
