New models incoming

Honest question, you're familiar with the marketing term "whale" as a designation for a certain kind of customer? Because I know a few people like that offline.
(looked it up) I was not familiar with the specific term,
it's a catch all term for relevant customer profiles?

the brand I worked for used specific customer profiles
-X = male, aged X years, married, retired, ...

If I were to start BB, I think I would have started else where than a another starter box. Why not get a team you really want, instead of the random 2 new ones? The moment you've built and played some, you start wondering what team you actually want.

What is better with latest Warhammer Quest compared ro previous ones? I guess the models and settings are different as usual. But the rules? More modern, more fun?

The way I learned it, it was code for specific customers willing to spend big on any release, who should be specifically targeted for extra advertising.

My sales training happened a long time ago, but it was for a certain British miniature manuafcturing company. ;)

I think the camera brand I was working for was more interested in optimizing sales by targeting specific demographics / psychologies

but for James workshop products that would have some merits. (I don't fully agree with it)

I used to work for a company whose target demographic was males over 18 and girls 14-16…. And the girls line was referred to as “Bare.”

Still wondering one thing: The Dome Runner hanger-on has, per the current rules I have available, a stub gun, and the only reason to take him is if you happen to have the ruined dome territory. Did he get any new rules I missed?

Not that this will stop me from getting that box, btw, just wondering.
The rules for Dome Runner and Rogue Doc have been updated in the latest book.

As far as the term "whale" goes, I originally heard it in connection with casinos. Any player that was known to be a massive spender was referred to as a whale, regardless of whether they won or lost, they were catered to and given upgrades.

I know the mobile gaming industry took that term and ran with it. They market their micro-transactions specifically for those big spenders, which is why you see crazy mobile game bundles for $99, completely out of the price range for the majority of the players. Most mobile game players might make a $5 or $10 purchase once in a while, but the game devs are looking for those big spenders who plop down a hundred bucks for a slight edge in an, supposedly, free to play game. Even if only one in ten thousand players is a whale, they spend enough to make the whole game profitable.

FWI: I identify as a Necromunda whale, usually buying multiple boxes on release.
I’ve got all boxes (strarers, terrain and vehicles), all books, most minis (skipped almost all squats and the Ortruum blob) and about half of all cards and dice.
This time I will buy the book, two sets of hangers-on, two Ozostium (so I can build both versions), one Justicar box (will replace their heads though), and the Enforcer wespons.

I would be a whale too. The things I like I really like, and often enjoy going all in. But have learned to tame my purchases. And the more I buy of something, the more that changes away from what I liked.

I work project by project, so I'm less susceptible to buy 'the newest stuff'
but if I know what I want to make I will buy whatever is needed (bits, 3D printed bits, boxes, try out different paint recipes and putties)

Do you still have that box full of Tactics Cards or Blood Bowl stuff??

I vaguely recall you were collecting ALL Necromunda releases until it set in that GW were literally extracting the urine with their releases.
I don’t think I’ve ever been a whale about anything…? I’m trying to remember…
Bombshell Minis? You seem to have most of their catalogue!!

Haha I used to get all dice and cards and whatnot the first few years. For BB, eventually came a new edition and reset the cycle. I didn't. And I jumped off Necromunda too, as most of it had very low actual tabletop play value. At least there were less releases then, not like today.

Well it was Starter Set, Gang War book then more Gang War, Plastic Gang and 30 Resin Bounty hunters repeated for about a year!! 🤣🤣

Haha you might say. Surprisingly few resin characters the first year actually. And each gang only got 1 box. Too many books though, and it haven't stopped. I'd be a lot more reluctant if I knew the pace of pumping out new characters. And considering the randomness of everything together with rule of cool, I would mainly convert what I'd wanted these days.
