N18 New Player looking for advice for a Goliath Kitbash

Hello everyone I'm new here and I'd like to start a Goliath gang for the new Necromunda!
They were my first gang back in the 1995 edition of the game and I like the new Plastic kit but can help but want to kitbash them together with other bits and bobs to make them really stand out.

I was thinking of using the new Ork Boyz and wondered if anyone has done this yet? thanks to the 40k Combat patrol magazine I have 10 of them but searching on the net i could only find kitbash / conversions of the smaller older Boyz.

I think these could be great to give some character to the gang or have the a few standard Goliaths represent Juves and the Ork kitbash my regular gangers.

I’ve kitbashed Ork parts into Goliaths before (and the reverse). Not used these new kits though.

Biggest thing will be making the heads more Human in position, unless you plan to call your gang “The Hunchbacks”!

So getting a good source of human heads in an appropriate size would be useful. You might need to use ones designed for Marine sized models on the big Ork bodies.

Other thing is which version of Necromunda are you intending to use these in? Reason being that the weapons are very different between the 1995-NCE edition compared to the Modern Necromunda.

If your planning to go Modern Necromunda then you really should pick up at least a sprue of modern Goliaths and probably the upgrade kit to get the useful weapons (plus other useful bits).

Thank you for the advice! I will be sticking with modern NCE for now, I realised just how different weapons and loadouts are in NCE/17 when i got my hands on House of Chains

I have managed to get hold of the core gang, Stimmers set and Upgrades from the current range but haven't tried to kitbash yet, especially after not being able to find any examples that it has already done it.

I did wonder about the head position too, I can see that the new Boyz have very broad shoulders but necks and heads much lower down, maybe i can count it as a Vatborn with the "Overdeveloped Musculature" trait if i keep one with the hunched position a whole gang of them would be pretty funny

I didn't find the images but the broad squat chests matched goliaths arms / heads

My initial thought is squat heads (leagues of votan) but iv not had any experience with em so can’t say for sure.

But putting the usually beefy Goliath weapons into the giant ork hands will look great! Like, the basic weapons will look like pistols!

Maybe the nob could be a stimmer? (The regular roid rage guys, not the bigger roidier roid rage guys, I don’t know the new stuff too well)

I look forward to seeing how this goes!

Oooo with Yaegir torsos is really interesting and a Goliath gang that makes trips or hangs about “the Skull” trying to prove how tough they are is a reallly fun concept!

THE SKULL
The ruined hive known as the Skull is no place for the weak – or even, perhaps, those with a shred of self-preservation. Fortunately, for the Over-tyrant, the workers of House Goliath possess neither of these qualities. In contravention of Lord Helmawr’s xenos exclusion zone, groups of Goliaths have set up settlements in the wreckage around the base of the old hive. Digging down into the toxic earth to gain some measure of protection from both ash storms and the highly radioactive ruins of the hive, these tunnel-dwelling Goliaths have constructed hundreds of kilometres of underground chambers so as to exploit the ruins of the Skull.

Savage muties and nightmare things constantly crawl forth from the Skull in search of prey. Those that make it as far as the Dustwall are torn apart by the guns of the Necromundan 8th, though for the Goliaths no such protection exists. To survive against these horrors
the clan has had to become savage themselves. Equipping themselves with crude xenos weapons dug up from the ancient battlefields surrounding
the hive, painting their flesh in xenos glyphs and even smearing their bodies with grey-green ash, the Skulldiggers, as the Goliath enclaves are known, have become a formidable force.

I feel like I’ve got a few evenings ahead of me chopping and fitting and seeing what sticks and the Nob as a stimmer is a brilliant idea, he’s got a great Pose already so maybe a head swap and some paired tenderisers and he’d be good to go!
