N18 New Rules Incoming

Of course! The Pit Slaves.

I’d kinda forgotten they were a gang too as they were also hireable.

We’ve seen that theme with the Slave Ogryn a bit and the Slaves guild seems to include at least one actual pit slave model. Nothing more though. Yet.

Plenty of people would welcome that, along with a Scavvie release.

Are there any 1995-2002 gangs other than those two that haven’t been updated yet?

I guess with Scavvies they’ve given away a lot of their formerly unique traits, so would be interesting to see what they would do with them.
I'm hoping we'll see more Chaos-corrupted versions of some of the guilders or other groups within up and under hive society (eg: Brats, Scavvies). Making Scavvies a fully chaos-corrupted specialist gang like the CGC would give them a separate identity from the Cawdor and Mutant Outgang affiliation gangs.

Ratskins always raises the inevitable finger-pointing type posts but in reality they don’t have to be written as they were before. Necromunda was in essence the Wild West in a Futuristic setting but has moved on from a lot of that now (though some terminology still lingers).

It would be cool to see a fresh approach to both - particularly if the could also in some way retain a hint of what they were, else you might as well just knock up some brand new gangs free from the legacy of previous versions.

(Brats predate 1995 before anyone says it. Though would be cool to see Confrontation gangs too)
Given Ash Wastes Nomads have exclusively Ash Wastes units and very little in the way of options for underhive games I wouldn't be surprised if they attempted to merge their identity with the Ratskins and make the latter a nickname for underhive-operating Nomads. (I know originally they were separate gangs, but they've already merged enough aspects of the R into the AWN).

It looks like they sell so poorly (almost always discounted stock in FLGSs) - the fact they're so restricted in Underhive (which is the game's default mode) makes updating them a commercial imperative!

So far on the list:
Enforcers.
I really hope so. Even just a compilation would do. Lore wise however with the Succession arc the jackbooted thugs have taken a real battering so it may be harder to squeeze them in
Corpse Grinders have barely been touched since initial release.
For good reason. Open cannibals be Gross. The Hungry Hungry Hippos still hold up well in game play (just by being over powerful in melee) so corporate GW does not need to whip the horse anymore. They could however be parceled into a Cultists book as they are in essence a Khorne Cult.
Genestealer Cults
The malstrains have their book so the "proper" Genestealers will have to look elsewhere. Like CGC I think a revamped Cult book is the way to go. I can't see a new model angle for them to plug though as they have a sufficiently rounded W40k range of to use already.
Chaos is pretty much ignored.
Ignore Chaos at your peril!
Yes they really really need an update. They have many regular human cultist sculpts across various games so the model scope is there. However it could be in danger of going full deamon or Chaos space marine which would ruin the Munda vibe. A cultist book for all three please.
Venator Gangs…
Venator Gangs are dead. Outcasts just do the job better. They could do a decent revamp of the bounty hunters mechanics to get them in or like the Noble, guild, criminal and Ferryman delegation use that mechanism to keep the Venator idea alive
Ash Wastes Nomads are still relatively fresh but as Ash Wastes as an event has passed… who knows what will happen.
They hint mega buf transports, Ash lions and more so I hope so.
However they put a lot of key bits of lore around a undercurrent of a Nomads plot line in the Succession arc and left it in a big cliffhanger so I think it will be in a similar vein to that rather than a stand alone book.
Also think the Nomads muscle out the idea of Ratskins as a gang.
Did I miss one??
The lovable Hug monsters of the Slave Ogryns 😁.
Personally I think they could just use a little expansion on weapon selection. You would think they can handle a Heavy Maul. It's a club with a nail in it.
Also I think they should be able to use the Medical Escort actions to remove or add Augmetic weapons.
More model kits would be nice.
(Ok I accept my Idea of a Ogryn duelist with giant ass Stiletto swords is a little silly)

I don't think Pit Slaves will happen. Functionally Goliaths, outcasts Esher or corpse grinders can do the various Gladiator Combat bits rule wise and you can just use those rules with other models. It will not be a new thing for GW to sell.

A Brat gang without having to surgically reshape the nobles limbs is an idea they could get mileage with. Venetian carnival mask style.

Brats in two flavours: one "lawful" and just kicking around and spending their parents' money on (literally random) exotic weapons they barely know how to use with crap fighter stats and almost Orkish churn, the other "outlaw" Dark Prince worshipers appropriating the darker Stranger Spire equipment with harlequin flair...I could dig it.

On today's Warhammer Community blurb about the upcoming week [noticed because I peeked in to look at all the rereleased Mordheim plastics...]:

"And on Warhammer Community, we’ve got a new Warhammer Underworlds warband and Rivals deck, an Apocrypha Necromunda and the small matter of the first major Warhammer preview of the year…"

[Bold and italics mine.]

So should be another scenario plus a page of new rules for some gangs or other?

Well, that was unexpected! Also though plays into the idea that I was exploring somewhere on this forum (can’t remember which thread now it’s here) that the pre-House books might get redone now.

Only the Venator Gang is the bit that really needs a quick brush up rules wise but they may think it’s not worth it (or they could just cull the gang as it was one of those early concepts to allow you to get figures on the table before they got all the Houses out in the Gang War series).
However it is now the oldest modern book still in publication and who knows - it might just disappear one day and most if not all of the content reappear, updated, along with missing Dramatis Personae from GotU and the odd extra WD article in “Necromunda: Apocrypha #2” - or even split across N:A #2 & #3!!

This PDF updates the extremely old Book of Peril list and expands it. As it’s now a free PDF that’s some of the content of that book gone.

I can see the Book of Peril disappearing soon and the rest of the material appearing in a future Necromunda: Apocrypha 2 or even another free PDF.

Venator Gangs… kinda lost their shine since Outcasts takes a similar concept and does it 100x better.

Venator Gangs are dead.
Guess not!!

On the plus I now know what to do with that free sprue of Ratlings I got last year!!

I'm not sure it is a typo, the ratling champ and beast man champs are the same cost too and mv4 is a glaring con to the statline. With a focus on melee and no legacy equipment list to add seems juve equivalent to me.
