N18 New Rules Incoming

Here’s the link to the latest Apocrypha Necromunda : Escape from Zalktraa.

With this one the links to Rogue Trader get closer as you can now program your Enforcer robots! Well, sorta.

You get a limited set of options and you can reboot them or your cyber dogs to choose a new program to run.

Plus a new adventure to do with Lady Credo. If you’re into that. Which you may be. Or not. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Huh, I thought Mad Donna was already in the current edition. Weird they're obfuscating her identity if there's already a model and rules for her. Whatever.

Besides House Ruling that the robots can Stand Up in addition to the actions listed in the .pdf (obvious oversight as ever), the rules seem all right. The outstanding ones seem to be turning Shoot into a basic action - so even if the Sanctioner is pinned it can shoot, and the using the Cyber Mastiff to rescue gangers (if only the mastiff didn't get a price increase with Vaults of Temenos). A tactic might be to use the Sanctioner to fire out grenades and screen your Enforcers if its getting up to two shots a turn.

I asked this elsewhere - but when was the last rules release in White Dwarf? Last I seen I think it was extra hangers on scenarios? Nothing since then, other than the occasional issue that features the studio campaign (but no extra rules, because they only allocate a handful of pages to Necromunda, so there's no space. The old Iron Lords campaign was much better than the style they're using these days)?

There’s Belladonna which is a sci-fi reimagining of an old John Blanche fantasy drawing. She came out almost at the beginning of this edition.

There’s no official model or rules for Donna Ulanti yet… though she has been mentioned in the fluff.

The 90s edition has her in though.

Well, that… was expected. 🤣

LET THE DISCUSSION BEGIN!!!
So let’s start with this old chestnut:
“Likewise, charging someone you can’t see puts you at a disadvantage with -1 to hit.”

Looks a fat book, seems like a massive compilation of all the previous stuff and I’m intrigued with the vehicle rules included, all of them?? Or just the generics??

“…this is the essential tome for any player – and you’ll now really only need to bring this book and your chosen gang’s special rules to any dust-up within the underhive or without. “

Finally! As it should be. 👍🏻

I don't know what to think. It's been a year since the release of the cash wastes, and they already have new-er new rulebook. On one hand it's nice to have a full (for a year or so until they release another new-er new-est rulebook) compendium and errata of rules in one book. On the other... Nerf to already weak melee (charging blind causes negative to hit), debatable-if-necessary nerf to blast (targetting ground is event harder now) and probably lots and lots of mistakes, contradictions and stealth errata which make things even less clear. Unless maybe for once they paid someone to do some proofreading...

Not a fan of 1XP per seriously injured and flesh wound for every Bone on Serious injury dice. This is a major buff to shooting, which has been strong enough already.
-2 to hit when targeting ground with blasts seems fine, but nobody will bother with tossing grenades on 6+. Perhaps they'll give hand-thrown grenades an exception.

N23 here we go! It's a big boy if the spine thickness in that image is right.

All the mentioned changes seem highly sensible to me and reflect a lot of our house rules. Just the usual question on the amount of quality control and copy/paste errors that will be thrown in.

I'm cautiously optimistic that if they're overhauling the core rules for long term community grumbles on this level then it reflects a bit of a change of leadership and a greater desire to get it right this time? But maybe I'm just setting myself up to be knocked down there.

I wonder which campaign(s) it will include?

The big question for me is if it includes all the gang rules so far. If it did that I'd get it. It's reached a point where I can't expand my gangs because I don't want to have to get a book for each gang and the book for the vehicle rules.

All? All would be nice.

I’m guessing Dominion AND Ash Wastes if included the full rules for all environments.

Sounds like you’ll just need this and the Faction book.

How much do we’re reckon this chunky boy is gonna cost?? £40??

I highly doubt they'd be able to fit factions in there as well. Even without the lore, the size of the book would be enormous.

Hmmm. I’m intrigued. No offense, but I’ll let you all take the plunge to see if it’s worth picking up. So far my grand total of N17+ purchases has been two gang boxes. One because I wanted the gang (Escher) and one because I needed bodies for conversions and stuff. And it was the only thing any of my FLGS had in stock at all (Delaque).

Yeah, I'm also worried about the double flesh wound on a serious injury roll. I like having some more sources of XP but not sure if that's the way I'd pick. Also mentioned, I hope they state that the penalty only affects grenade launchers and not thrown grenades. Either way, already playing with most of the other rules as house rules so not expecting to have no house rules after this update haha
