It’d been announced on Warhammer Community that a new Kill Team starter box set is coming.

This one will feature Space Wolves vs Tau and it has Sector Mechanicus scenery.

Guessing slightly at the contents...

Half a box of Reivers - £17.50
Space Wolf Primaris upgrades - £8
Tau Fire Warriors - £30
KT core rulebook - £25
Add in cards, dice, board, etc. It seems like a fair deal.

I'm not sure exactly what the scenery is. Is it just a Derelict Factorum (£60)?

Seems strange to badge them as Space Wolves without actually including any SW parts, but you may be right.

As for the terrain, the Community article links to the Derelict Factorum, so that's what I was going by. But you may be right. If it is what you say, then that's almost the price of the box itself (assuming about £100).

Is there anything new in this box? Haven't paid much attention to 40k lately, but it seems like most of it is a package of existing components: space wolves, tau, terrain, rulebook, faction rules. If there's anything new here, it has to be dice, mat and cards?

I play Kill Team, but I see little interest in this. If I collected dice for this game, maybe it would be tempting. When it comes to cards, I'm far to casual player to get any use of a big pile of cards. My impression is there is a bunch of cards scattered throughout kill team boxes, and some are even no longer for sale? Better to find someone that has collected all the cards in a pdf.

I don't think there's anything new or exclusive, it's just that the original KT starter box sold out practically on release. Since then the only way to get the rules has been as a standalone book (£25). So this is a pretty good starter deal if you're wanting the book anyway.

I don't think so,
The two teams are straight out of the earlier wave of Killteam starter teams (minus the terrain). Terrain is the usual SM stuff. Book is the same as the original one (doesn't even seem to incorporate the FAQ). Dice and stuff are the same as in the original starter set (including the mat, it's the Sector Imperialis mat, not the Sector Mechanicus mat from the eponymous kill zone).

It's not aimed at established Kill Team players imo, it's meant as a replacement for the now discontinued (and arguably superior) original starter set.

No. It’s basically a new starter box for people wanting to join in now, rather than existing players.

Still if you’re interested in the scenery or any Teams then it might prove to be worth it. If you’re satisfied with what you have, it won’t.

I just wish it had more terrain in. That Sector Mechanicus stuff sure looks pretty but having played on a table of it (not mine) it’s really a terrible LoS blocker at ground level! I think the previous walls were better on that aspect. All you have here are a few storage tank bits.

But at least there IS a starter box again! Even if it looks a cheaper effort on their part.

The 'detailed look' here doesn't seem that detailed:

All it says about the scenery is "a whopping six frames of Sector Mechanicus scenery that you can use to build atmospheric industrial landscapes".

Did you miss the bottom comment?

“*** Seriously, if it had any more terrain in the box, you’d need a Galvanic Servohauler to lift it! You’ll can make so much scenery that even existing players will be all over this Starter Set.”

Hmmmm.

Lucky. I do not play Kill Team and the new KT Starter Set would interest me much more if it included a good and affordable range of terrain again. For example, some Derelict Manufactorum, or Manufactorum and Tectonic Fragdrill. From the Tau I would then build some Xenos for Necromunda scenarios and also the frame of the Reivers I could use the grapnels as equipment and to build two or three Imperial Fists as NPC.

Since the new Blackstone Fortress Escalation is much more interesting. I really would like that. I just think it's not the best move, if for Necromunda interesting boxes always appear at the same time as a major Necromunda release.
