Hi, my roomate grabbed the boxed set and kind of suckered me into the game, but I'm enjoying it having only played skirmish games. For now I play the Enforcer side since he loves his crazed cannibals. We want to pupgrade and play a full campaign with a couple other prospects and I am very confused about some details after reading FAQ and forums and such.

My big question is, do normal Enforcers advance as Specialists? I searched around and found conflicting answers, and I'm not sure if this was a thing ever resolved. The limit of 2 champions at any time and some other quirks suggested to me that they do pick advancements but I am frankly VERY new to this game.

My second question might be easier. I see that Enforcers have several weapons with similar stats but different names and options to normal gangs, like their combat shotguns/grenade launchers/boltguns. Am I correct in assuming these are their own weapons and can't take the normal ammo that their counterparts can from the trade post (no gunk bolts for Enforcer boltguns, etc)?

I'm sorry if this has been answered, I tried searching around and cam up with conflicting information. Any help for a new guy is appreciated.

I think neither of the two issues you mention have ever been clearly addressed, to be honest. They need Arbitrator decision or general concensus in your group. If your new prospects are going to pick gangs from the House of... books, I'd certainly be tempted to have your regular Enforcers all advance as specialist, as that seems like it was the intention and it certainly will not make them overpowered compared to other gangs. I also thinks it fits with all Enforcers being properly "trained" as opposed to regular gangers.

As for the other issue, the Enforcer versions of these weapons are deliberately different (Boltgun has a different Ammo check value, Grenade Launcher does not include Krak as standard but instead has Stun rounds, etc.), so you could argue that originally they weren't supposed to take any ammo not on their house list. Now that they've been explicitly allowed to make use of the Trading Post I'd say it makes sense to allow them the use of ammo appropriate to the weapon type, though. Again, I don't think it will make them overpowered in any way.

Thank you. That's actually the clearest answer I've found so far :) I'm not a power gamer so as long as them being specialists and getting the ammo seems fair and not overpowered to experienced gamers I think that's the biggest deal to my group of newbies.

Late to this one, but I figured they must work like that. Otherwise, I'd want my Ganger Enforcers to die as quickly as possible to get the free Rookie replacements that both advance quicker and get skills.

I also think that the Rookies are supposed to be promoted to Specialists instead of remaining Rookies forever, waiting for one of the two Sergeant-Champs to die.

So the official rules might be 'Eh?!?' but you can find some ideas on how to arbitrate this issue in the Comprehensive Rulebook, the editor has put forward a great case on Gangers being Specialists and Juves upgrading to Specialist Gangers. There are a lot of other balancing ideas available as well.
