Non_Ork Vehicles in GorkaMorka?

I'm really interested in some high-octane vehicle carnage in the grim darkness of the 41st millennium. However, my friends and I are mainly playing with Custodes/Space Marine/etc. vehicles.

I know "counts-as" is pretty easy to allow in an unsupported game, but it would be cool to run rules for these vehicles. Is there a ruleset for non-Ork vehicles? Or does anyone have a guide/advice for converting vehicles to GorkaMorka?

Thanks in advance!

I watched a miniwargaming video where one of the vehicles looked like a lego pirate ship, and another was 100% a repurposed rhino, so I'm sure you'd be fine so long as you followed the rules that if it has tracks, it's a Trakk?

Seems fair. I'm more curious how we might go about adapting the stat line/weapons for different 40K vehicles.

This must be floating around in the GorkaMorka Megamind. I have been thinking about conversions this week also. The internet consensus, as best that I can tell, is to use 1/35 scale vehicles for the chop shop. But I was wondering if 1/48 scale would be better for vehicles that didn't need rider space. I have been looking today from some plastic models to chop up to see what how they would visually scale. I DO like figures to be actually on the vehicles though. What a quandary.

Although the only official rules are for ORB necromunda, perhaps the Necromunda Ash Wastes will be more your style. More humans, you can actually have models going inside vehicles instead of on top, and most n18 interpretations use vehicle rules largely copied from GoMo anyway.
(And if you're sold on orks, then it gives you a chance to use the cool Speed Freeks buggies.)

Are you using them with Orks or trying to get Space Marines etc into the game?

If using them as Ork vehicles, just count them as a Trakk or Trukk and count weapons as the closest Ork weapon e.g. a Bolter becomes a Shoota, a Missile Launcher becomes a Rokkit and a Heavy Bolter becomes a Big Shoota.

If you're kitbashing vehicles to use with current size Ork Boyz I'd recommend mostly 1:35 vehicles, particularly armoured cars etc. 1:48 real world military vehicles are really small.

My kitbashed Trakk is a 1:35 Panzer IV for example and is a little longer than a current Trukk kit.

I would suggest 2nd edition 40k rules if you want to use actual space marines etc. The vehicle rules were a lot more detailed back then although getting hold if the rules and the datacards for the vehicles might be difficult these days.

This classic battle report might give you inspiration: https://www.belloflostsouls.net/2016/09/40k-the-death-of-lord-varlak.html

Very nice! Yeah Custodes, Chaos, etc.

There are some Guard vehicle rules in the Dustrat beta rules... Covers dirtbikes, light jeeps, and a bigger salvage and recovery vehicle. @Flamekebab has them on the Unnammed Gorkamorka site.... I have yet to play a game with them, but my Guard builds are all desert camo for that reason.
I'm planning to revise the Dust Rat rules slightly now that GW produce some vehicles that fit the bill!

The vehicle roolz we are using are in the Vault and linked in my signature. They are all meant to be "Ork" but there are roolz for skimmers and flyers, walkers and some other odds and ends. Add Flamekebab's Dust Rats and I bet you can cover quite a few bases. The Ash Wastes Necromunda rules would have more variety too. Lord Blackfangs "Gangs of New Ork" had rules for everything, but I am sure it was test-played even less than ours.
