It's a shame they have to be for a limited period only. Proper book publishers can keep print on demand titles available indefinitely (i.e. they don't keep stock, but they can print off a copy whenever someone orders one).

Assuming the price isn't too astronimical I'll go for the Kal Jericho books and Survival Instinct - the others I can't remember that much about. I know a few people thought Junktion was rubbish, but what about Salvation and Fleshworks?

Too bad there isn't an Omnibus / compilation released
Any quick recommendations on these? What to start off with?

Almost finished re-reading Inquisition Wars and want to get another book lined up.

an omnibus would be nice. none of the necromunda novels are War & Peace sized. i thought they were all fairly decent.

They did 3 omnibuses years ago. Also on demand. They are nice, but they are big. Not exactly bedtime reading. Still, I love having them.

Never read the Jerico novels so looking forward to them. :)

Survival Instinct is one of the best Black Library novels, let alone Necromunda ones IMO. Really enjoyable and flavourful.

Salvation I wasn't such a fan of. Some cool ideas but it felt like the story was a bit poorly timed and disjointed.

same here. hobby funds for novels or the game but not both at the moment.
hopefully they are available at least until the end of the year. I mean it is "Print on Demand" but yeah GW and it's 'limited availability' marketing ploys. <shakes fist>

Yeah I've just spent $200 on the new box plus gang war and I'm going on holiday overseas in a few weeks, so I'm not drowning in surplus funds. I would really like to read this stuff! I heard that the Kal Jerico re-print is going to be sticking around while the rest will be limited availability, can anyone confirm that? If that's true I might buy some of the others first. I noticed that in typical GW fashion the bundle including all the books is exactly the same price as buying them separately o_O I really wish they could bring themselves to occasionally offer some small discount on these ridiculous bundles, I mean you can buy hundreds of dollars worth of their stuff this way and be rewarded with exactly zero financial incentive. It's a bit stingy really.

So, a good question to ask, as someone who's read none of this stuff, is which of these books do you guys consider to be the most essential Necromunda reading?

The collection in Status Deadzone varies in quality but is mostly very good, I have it already from ye olde days.

A few people have told me that Survival Instinct is the best of them all.

I don't know much about Fleshworks or Salvation, though a couple of people suggested Salvation was the better of the two.

From what I've seen and heard Junktion is a bit crap.

And yes, the Kal Jerico omnibus is getting a proper reprint and sticking around whilst the others are inexplicably time sensitive, though I'm not sure of the end date.

I really liked Junktion. An insight into World Shattering Events that for those uphive are really not even noticed. Plus some good characterization and also an example of how and why a change of "gang leadership" in townships may occur and what it may look like.

Survival Instinct (Chambers writing Mad Donna) is really good.

Status Deadzone is worth it for the good ones. :)

At this point I think Status Deadzone is a must buy and I will get at least one of the novels too. I'll probably get them all if they're available still at the end of January, I just don't know how limited this will be.

Actually, considering Mad Donna's status as apparently THE most memorable character (or at least name) from Necromunda and the fact that I don't know anything about her, I suppose I should get Survival Instinct :D

Black Library site now lists the 8th of December as the final day to order, not sure if I missed it before or if it's just been updated. 5pm GMT

That's... ...not a lot of time.

There are bound to be people selling them on ebay in the near future, not everyone will like them. I hope the prices don't get too insane though.
