Nu Epic (Legion Imperialis)

Make up your own legio?
My Iron Hands will need a Legio with a similar paint scheme which is oily metal. So I invented my own. Secondary colours will be copper, bronze and brass. Name of the Legio? Well, with this colour scheme only one name would be feasible:

KINGS OF METAL!

They tend to insult enemy Legios with scrap code "blowing from their speakers": "WHIMPS AND POSERS, LEAVE THE HALL!

You don’t need a similar looking legio. You could go for a contrasting colour. These are to accompany my future World Eaters.

At least you guys know which Legio you're painting. I can't decide between the War Gryphons, Fire Wasps, or Warp Runners.

@Tiny I hope you feel better soon.
You could always take a 4th option of doing your own titan legio, though that depends on if you intend on playing AT proper at some point.

Granted, I have a soft spot for Astorum (Warp Runners). Their special rules are almost purpose built to play more aggressively than most other loyalist titan legios in AT.

@ChapterAquila92 considering my friend and I have literally everything made for Adeptus Titanicus you could say we intend to play. :)

I'll probably go with the Warp Runners as I like everything about them - colors, rules, background.

Sounds good!

One thing I might suggest looking into is a source of Lucius-pattern titans or conversion kits for them, given Astorum's relation to that particular forge world.

@Wasteland those Ogryns look good!

I've been working a bit on my Salamanders.. oy.

I thought the infantry for Heavy Gear and Flames of War were small.. geez Louise. At the risk of sounding conceited, I'm a damn good painter. But these.. these are trying my skill and patience.

Pick your battles wisely. At first I tried doing eye lenses on the dreadnoughts. They looked good at a distance but under a magnifier glass you could see a splash of blue which contrasted too much with the many careful layers needed to do the oily armour theme. In the end I removed the eye lense colour. I don´t want to imagine how difficult the marines would be in the same regard. And while doing the fourth dreadnought my eyes already hurt. So nope to silly details on Epic models. Leave awesome eye lenses for the 30K/40K models.

@Wasteland yeah.. I have a friend of mine that's reigning me in as I'm known to go all in on detail.

"Basecoat, wash, no more than 2 drybrushes. Minimal details. Don't make me get the squirt bottle and rolled up newspaper!" :ROFLMAO:

Actually you are right in that level of detail just gets lost or washed out at this scale. So really "less is more" with Legions Imperialis models.
