Are Ogryns the biggest coward in the necromunda? How do the biggest bastards in Hive who fight so fiercely for their freedom have a willpower like Escher Juve or much worse than Juve Cawdor? Imagine the worst possible combination in Necromunda - Ogryns vs CG (terrifying, fearsome). How is it possible that Ogryns without a brain (Lobo-Ogryns) must also perform such a test? What's wrong with this/their willpower? Why are such giants more skittish than juves from other gangs? I am very curious about your opinion.

Their bravery (Cool) is strong to mediocre (5+/7+). Their Willpower (psychic resistance) is slightly lower than the other meatheads (Goliath). In general, it seems that size (big) correlates to dumb (low intelligence and/or willpower).

But isn't it weird that Fearsome & Terrifying uses Willpower tests? Could be more fitting to use Cool.

Could be a balancing decision. Cool is already a desirable stat while Willpower is a bit bleh unless your campaign is drowning in Ghast and Wyrds.

EDIT: Thematically it fits if you assume the masks channel warp-juice from the Lord of Skin and Sinew, hence the need for Willpower.

That's what I was thinking when I started reading the thread.

Taken from the rulebook about what the stats represent.

LEADERSHIP (LD)
This is a measure of fighter’s ability to issue or follow commands in the heat of battle.
COOL (CL)
A fighter’s Cool represents their capacity for keeping calm under fire.
WILLPOWER (WILL)
Willpower is a measure of fighter’s mental fortitude and resilience.
INTELLIGENCE (INT)
This represents a fighter’s mental acuity and ability to apply knowledge.

Willpower is an odd one for Ogryns as they are meant to be absolutely loyal once indoctrinated, but also too stupid to know if the person giving the orders is corrupted.

they also lack any psychic abilities whatsoever so should have a low willpower.

I actually think that the use of a willpower check for the Fearsome trait is probably more at fault than the low willpower of the Ogryn.

I wonder how well a LD test would work. The battle plans called for you to engage that fearsome fighter... Do you follow orders?

Shrugs just a random thought
