Old v New Necro/Inquisimunda

We've actually found Escher to be the most popular gang to date. Over 3 campaigns, the gang tallies are as follows (~12-15 players/campaign):

Escher - 13 gangs
Goliath - 12 gangs
Van Saar - 8 gangs
Delaque - 6 gangs
Orlock - 5 gangs
Chaos cult - 4 gangs
Genestealer cult - 2 gangs
Cawdor - 2 gangs
Venators - 1 gang
Interesting list, though the thought occurs to me that Escher and Goliath are the box set gangs so almost everyone has a set! It wouldn’t surprise me that you’d see more using the models they have ready access to. Especially as the quality is so high and buying separate is exactly the same sprue!

I am surprised about the Cults though as for a while, at least going on a fair few anecdotes, it seemed like they were some of the most common to find as players co-opted existing models.

I guess as we’re in a post gang release time now we’ll see an overall different pattern of popularity. Cawdor mini design seemed divisive for a bit so that could explain why they’re so low.

Anyway, this is just your group, would be interesting to see what others have!

Limiting players choices as to what gang they can bring could very well be unpopular. Unless of course they had several gangs they could choose from.
In that case I’d ask politely that the players with just one gang get to use that and the others if possible would be nice enough to choose another.

If it totallly can’t work then you’d have to use the arbitrator to come up with some reason why 8 Goliath gangs are fighting each other! Pretty sure a narrative would be easy to form there.

Yeah, I’d hate for someone to feel that they couldn’t collect or play a particular gang because someone already had one.

If you have enough players you’re going to cycle thorough them at some point so... let’s get creative!!

I agree @MusingWarboss - I think players should be able to pick and choose freely and you build the story to reflect it. Our current campaign (Not Another Chaos Uprising!) has 2 chaos cults, and we've been theming some of the games with chaotic outcomes.

You're right about the gang split - our first campaign was just after N17 came out so we had a high proportion of Escher and Goliaths gangs as folks chose the great new models!

you get 12-15 players per campaign?!? I think we maxed at 8...

We're lucky - we have a big pool of players who have been joining in for over a decade on various incarnations of Necromunda. On a normal week I'd expect 8 players to turn up. Some will play every week, others might only pick up 3-4 games over the course of the campaign.
