Ork Fleet - Which ships?

So I found myself in possession of an Ork fleet and don't know which ships to keep, which to move on and which other ships to add to the fleet.

I currently have:

2 Kill Kroozers
1 Terror Ship
3 Savage Gunship
3 Ravager Attack Ship
5 Onslaught Attack Ship
19 (yes nineteen!) Brute Ram Ships

I'm thinking its likely that I don't need that many Brutes?

Was there ever a model released for the Grunt? Is it worth converting some Brutes to Grunts?

Do I need more big ships or do Orks tend to run more escort-heavy?

Do I need to add a Battleship / Hulk / Roks?

Did GW make models of any battleships other than Gorbag's revenge? How about the Hammer class Battlekroozer?

From memory, brutes are 25 points... so you've actually only got 475 points of brutes... that's neither too few or too many, for a 2k fleet that's approx what I'd want on hand for options.

I'd suggest going up to 2-3 terrors, they are good and provide more ordinance that you need as an ork player, you basically want to fill the board with stuff.

Once you have them, you have a good amount of things there to allow some options for what to take at 2k. I'd stay at that level, if you want to take hulks and roks then you will get a lot less ships, but unless you 'know' you will always want them, having the ships so you dont have to take them is a good call.

Generally Gorbads is the only one worth taking (again, from memory, can't remember off top of my head why), but there were different insert pieces to 'make' the other ones on limited releases (but as its orky, you cna convert up just as easy). Personally I'd suggest using some magnets to allow converting the kill kroosers back and forth to terrors, then 4-5 capitols are a solid mainstay.

One final point, look at the brutes against other escorts of other races, and ignore their 'ramming' stuff. they are actually really good escorts for their price point before you get into ramming. the 90 turns are something orks really want to have too.

That's a fairly decent fleet. Going by having played against a few of Ork fleets here and there, they tended to run escort-heavy - though maybe not so far as having 19 ram ships! I don't think any had battleship-grade ships, one had a hulk. Orks seem to be more about quantity than quality in BFG - swarm the space-cowards!

I don't think they released "generic" Ork battleships, but they are fantastically fun to kitbash - especially roks or hulks.

Can’t help with tactics or owt, Iv barely skimmed through the bfg rule book!
But after Iv put together some tiddler ships I’ll be making a kroolboy purely because of the name!

Those appear to be all of the different " 'Uge Ships" available in the different rule books. Hadn't realised that they'd made multiple options for the battleship minis. Only seen Gorbag's Revenge for sale on eBay.

In the interest of funsies I will probably build a Hulk and some Roks even if they're not that good and since variety is, so I'm told, the spice of life, I'll convert 3-4 of the Brutes into Grunts. I am sure 15-16 Brutes will be plenty.

I would like to get hold of a battleship or two but the current eBay prices are pretty prohibitive. I guess I'll just hang on until a good deal comes up or build my own.
